Well... let's see if I can go 2-0.

This one is a no brainer, honestly.

The Republican VP will be... Willard Mitt Romney

I'm sorry but that other fellow from Minnesota is not ready to step into a debate with Joe Biden.

I think this is an open and shut case. Sorry to ruin the suspense.

if he is feeling particularly ballsy, he may pick a woman in a (desperate) attempt to get hillary supporters in his camp.

i cant think of any good women on the republican side, to be honest.

so i reckon ill go with my prediction all along...thune.

Even though this will make Alcon vote for Obama (*cry*), I don't think that Mitt will hurt McCain all that much.

He may also do surprisingly well in the VP debates.

Tim Pawlenty (R-MN), although if McCain had any sense, he'd pick Hutchison.

I really don't see how he picks that guy. It would be almost as bad as Obama picking Chet Edwards. The world would be like "...what?".

I think if he picks Romney, than he loses any attacks he could have had against Obama with what Biden said, and I'm not sure he wants to do that.

I hope he doesn't pick Mitt, but at this point I bet he does. I can't see Pawlenty go up against Biden.

It would be gutsie to pick Huckabee. In reality, I think Mitt all but had it a few days ago, but I would be shocked if the whole "houses" thing hasn't given McCain pause. There is no one with more of a reputation for elitism and wealth than Romney. Anyone remember that old Daily Show segment during the primaries that made fun of Romney using tons of Latin phrases during the debates?

Biden creates an interesting dynamic for McCain's VP prospects.  Joe is both a hard debater and someone who has blue-collar appeal.  Mitt is a hard debater but lacks that appeal while Pawlenty is a softer debater but has blue collar appeal.

All my gut says Pawlenty but I'm going to say Portman just to be different.  He's both a great debater and has blue collar appeal.  His connection to the current economic situation in the country is the one thing that dooms him.  But he would "shore up" McCain's economic credentials just like Biden does for Obama's foreign ones.

I'm going to have to go with Romney unfortunately.

Still hoping for Crist, Lieberman, or Ridge though.

Romney, clearly the only one tough enough to go toe to toe with Biden, and by far the best attack dog McCain has.

As one commentator said on CNN, now it has to be Romney for sure, rather that those two youngsters McCain may have been considering at one time.

By youngsters I assume he meant Pawlenty and Thune.

I think a wise choice would be Joe Lieberman to help take in some Independent voters from Obama. But I think he will roll out (and has already made up his mind) Romney.

I think he'll pick Romney to have a shot at Michigan (where they'll eventually lose by 3-5% on election day)

Romney probably wouldn't help at all in Michigan anyways.

Lieberman would be a terrible pick for a number of a reasons. McCain would be seen as out of touch with the conservative base. Lieberman is and looks too old, a ticket with a 71 and a 65 year old, anyone?

if he is feeling particularly ballsy, he may pick a woman in a (desperate) attempt to get hillary supporters in his camp.

The only GOP woman he may go with is Hutchison - Dick Morris was predicting that the other day which doesn't give me much hope for a McCain/Hutchison ticket.

Still hoping for Crist, Lieberman, or Ridge though.

I'm sticking with my Romney predication but I would prefer the names TD just listed. I can't see Pawlenty doing much help to the McCain camp.
