I'll participate, but hopefully this one won't be sponsored by Chilis and ask questions about burritos, cause I'm running against real candidates this time

Usually benconstine is the first one to volunteer.  I don't really object to anyone if they are biased

I would, but since I'm a candidate, it isn't really fair.  Perhaps Rocky would be willing to?

I'm sorry Ben but I cannot. Although I will be able to use the Forum this week, I will not be able to use it, like I am today, due to a lot of anticipated homework (the reason I am on now, is due to course councilling today, which I had at 9 this morning). Not to mention I will be starting on some homework later this afternoon, thus I cannot moderate an upcoming Senatorial Debate. Why not PiT?

PiT was actually the first person that came to mind, but idk if people would object to the moderator being a supporter of mine

I'm alright with it.  PiT has always been shown to be perfectly fair, and I've moderated debates where I had already announced support of a candidate, so I don't see a problem.

My suggestion is that you boys just start asking each other questions, and making statements. The hour is pretty late. You know, how will you make the game come alive, vote rules for Senate elections, your time commitment that you will make to serving, what you want to accomplish, your top priority issues, and so on. Good luck!

I would be happy to moderate the debate. Thinking of questions may be a little tricky, but I can handle it. Anyway, do we start now or what?

Eschew making this a  redux of the Shakespearean tragedy of Hamlet, and go for it Pit, is my suggestion.

Someone should get Realpolitik to change the title of the thread to "Senate Debate Here!" or something.

Okay, then we'll get started. I'll figure out how I should pace it. Tongue

Anyway, first question. The Pacific Region recently passed an initiative that called for the annexation of Turkey in reaction to an attack by Turkish hackers. How do you, the candidates, feel about annexing Turkey?

As a fervent opponent to an interventionist foreign policy and the creation of the state of Puerto Rico, I oppose this.  Considering I sponsored legislation to remove Puerto Rico stating it was unconstitutional and absurd, my position on any such matter should be quite clear.

I certainly oppose adding what would no doubt be such a hostile territory.  However, I would like for the Turkish government to issue an official apology.

I'm thinking about giving at least 24 hours, which can be ended early if a majority of the candidates respond before then. It's not as if there are hundreds of issues facing Atlasia. How does that sound?

In dangerous times like these we need to do everything in our power to defend our great nation. Turkey has greatly wronged our people and in an effort to push the national government into taking some sort of action the people of the Pacific have raised the issue. While this may not be the best option something does need to be done and I admire the people of the Pacific for offering up an option for action. Debate on the national level must take place on what to do, clearly someone must be held accountable to some level for the viscous attacks on the citizens of our nation.

The Turkish infidels must be stomped under our boots into the cold hard dirt, what better way than to make them Atlasians?  However, I do call for it being made a part of the Mideast rather than the Pacific, we after all are so much more awesome, though the Secretary of said awesomeness is not in our region.

Obviously the solution to this is not annexation, but to ensure that we get those responsible...
To sit in solemn silence in a dull, dark dock,
In a pestilential prison with a life-long lock
Awaiting the sensation of a short, sharp shock
From a cheap and chippy chopper on a big, black block

How's that for pandering!
