CNN just gave an entire segment to the war...and actually now that I think about they've been talking about it for awhile now.  Made a big deal of speech Bush just gave about it.  My cable company has a digital channel that shows all the major news networks and you can cycle around.  Bush was halfway through his speech before FoxNews cut to it.  As soon as it was over it was back to drug busts on the border and Obama on vacation.

Kudos to CNN

It's not easy for me to say that.  I'm no fan of CNN.  But they did a good job on the subject.  They went to a comercial, I got bored and now I'm watching Code Monkeys off of the DVR.  God damned Americans and the....what was I typing about?

And this answers the question: "why isn't the media covering this war?"

The Atari 2600 was once a very important part of my life.  I enjoy "adult" cartoons that are very stupid, promote stereotypes and have tons of pot references.  Code Monkeys is right in my sweet spot.

..but I can certainly see why others would find it painfull to watch.  Thank the god's the free market has given us so many channels to chose from!

As I've said above, if American coverage is anything like this:

the less of it, the better.

Dude, CNN (Creative News Network) has been telling lies for many, many years.

According to them I'm a war refugee.

Several observations:

First, currently, the coverage of international news by the american media today is abysmal.

Second, international coverage by the American media is far worse than it was thirty, forty, fifty years ago.

Third, television news has an inherent bias.  That is to say, if there's no good picture, there's no story (which will be carried).

Fourth, there has been a collapse in stringers.  Anybody remember UPI?

Fifth, thirty years ago there was an excellent program on PBS called "World Press,"  Too bad its no longer available.

PBS (and, now, C-SPAN) do have excellent programming. Unfortunately, nobody ever watches them.

Yeah, I don't watch them either. For some reason PBS just bores the hell outta me. Angry

An acquired taste, I guess. I have fond memories of watching the NewsHour when I was five. It'd come on right after DragonTales. Smiley

I'm not surprised. I've witnessed their propaganda first during the Kosovo war and then the Iraq war. Though back then their lies weren't as crude. Perhaps though, I didn't follow the news as closely then.

I've never thought I would agree so much with an article written by Pat Buchanan:

Strange times, indeed.

He's an isolationist paleoconservative. The radical neoconservatism in charge of this country is more different on foreign policy than isolationist paleoconservatism and American liberalism are from each other.
