MN has always been a pipe dream for Republicans. Although it briefly trended Republican in 2004, it still went Democrat by 5 points better than Kerry's national score. It was only close in 2000 because Nader got over 5% of the vote....

Granted the demographic changes of the past ten years have given Republicans a better opportunity at the Presidential level, but this is not a tipping point state. Most recent polls confirm this shift back to voting habits for the state in presidential elections.
