Lieberman is scum, still....scum we need for a couple more months.

so that "we" can accomplish what exactly?

That Medicare funding bill passed the Senate by 1 vote. There's a lot of close votes to come so it might be best to not alienate him quite yet..

I doubt if Lieberman cares much really. He acted upon his conscience, and sleeps well at night. Let lesser men act as they will. It doesn't matter.

Ah yes. The big, huffing-and-puffing, mean-talking Congressional Democrats want to get tough on someone they don't like.

Seriously, they're probably only doing this cause they'll make money off of it. Tongue

I'm not sure what Lieberman will do.  Since he has already promised to speak at the GOP convention, he'll have quite a decision to make.

I know this is just a lack of knowledge, but what happens if he is kicked out of the Democratic caucus?  Is he forced to caucus with the GOP?

I've been among the crowd advocating this for a while now. So I'll just repeat the jubilant comments.

He isn't forced to, but he would of his own volition.

Joseph Lieberman is a good Senator, and to kick him out of the Caucus simply because of this is childish.  Democrats need to remember that, without him, they wouldn't have their Chairmanships; Harry Reid is the one who needs to get kicked out of the Caucus.

Childish? He ditched his party.

You seem to think this is something that should be lasting. It's a marriage of convenience, and both sides know it.

His Party kicked him out in favor of a famous name.

And now he's speaking at the other party's convention. That's ditching your party.

And when was Ned Lamont famous before defeating Lieberman in the primary?

The Lamont family had been involved in Connecticut for years.

I'll concede that to you; I haven't seen it confirmed, though.

Well, this whole thread is hypothetical. If it happened, would you support booting out Lieberman?

I can't bring myself to kick him out.  Besides, I agree with him on more issues than not.

And you agree with Olympia Snowe, too. She supports the Republicans, just like Joe Lieberman.

Lieberman already answered that question. He will do what McCain asks him to do. He will let the chips fall where they may. He accepts that. I heard him say that on the tube.

Well, Liebermans conscience is clearly f'ed up.

My mileage varies obviously. I look for Lieberman to give a barn burner of a speech. May you be able to restrain yourself from smashing the crockery. Smiley

Lieberman and barn burner speech shouldn't be in the same sentence.

Goldmine material.  I actually remember when Lieberman spoke at our convention eight years ago.  The man is human chlorofoam.  "The Republicans seem to believe in making the donkey fatter by feeding more oats to the horse."  (awkward silence, followed by murmurs and embarrassed polite golf-clapping)
