Only truly world class conmen have a voice that sounds like what apple pie would sound like. Comfortable and soothing; the opposite of anything Dionsynian just a conman who resolves people into a passive state. While he does everything to benefit himself and his friends. But he sounded like Apple pie; no danger; no passion; no longing for something different - no wonder Naso loves him.

best [concise] analysis ever.

Some of his reforms were necessary but overall his presidency was BS. He is one of the main reasons for the huge income inequality that exists in America today. Also he is a hp for his escalation of the drug war. The biggest failure ever.

One key word that was missing from the Reagan vocabulary was "restraint"

Everything was too much, too far, too big.

He and his administration's ideological desire to dismantle the great society completely forgot those who were helped by it.

His place in history was vastly overrated - he didn't bring down the Soviet Union - apart from gross overspending - forcing the USSR into a financial meltdown.

Having said that, he was the exact leader the US needed at that time.

If it wasn't for the current idiot, he would be the worst President in the last 50 (probably more) years.

He definitely strengthened and armed the people we are at war with today.

I could make a long post on this, but simply put, most young people now don't remember why this country elected Reagan and henceforth, don't remember why a lot of the Reagan policies towards drugs, welfare and taxes (and other domestic issues) were necessary at the time. (and continued wisely by the Clinton administration, I might add).

The Reagan foreign policy is less disputed, which mainly has to do with the clarity of the results.

Anyway, I generally approve of most of what Reagan did.  The drug war is unnecessary now, but we can't forget why it was needed back then (lest we let history repeat itself).

His policies may not have always been right, but he was the right leader for the 1980's.

Ronald Reagan set America back socially by 20 years.

True, but Ronald Reagan was merely reflecting the times.  In other words, America wanted to do that as much as Reagan did.

I agree with you there. Part of why I'm glad I was born in 1990.

Ronald Reagan was one of our best orators ever. Rivaling JFK and FDR.

I do, however, think Americans have selective amnesia when praising him.
He ballooned our deficit to extraordinary amounts and we're still paying for it in Bush's adopted economic policy's.

Reagan also practically declared war on the mentally disabled. He presided over the closing of a large number of mental facilities when he was governor. Letting all the crazies out on the street, how is that for a war on crime.

Good President.  I disagree with a lot of his politics, but he was still a good President (and therefore a FF) nonetheless.

Most people who don't like Ronald Reagan are either members of a Union or don't even have any memory of his presidency because they were only 3 years old when he left office.

It appears he was, though he probably wasn't even capable of walking.

Oh come on now..

While Reagan may be the President I may have had the most desire to play a game of cards with, he certainly wasn't the best. Eisenhower and Bush far outperform him.
