Bush is up in the polls, Kerry has had a terrible couple of weeks and can't seem to catch a break. He based his ENTIRE campaign on his Vietnam record. When that was called into question(and we can all agree that his story has serious holes in it) the campaign fell apart. Bush will get a bounce from this convention, a larger one than Kerry received surely. At this moment Bush looks like he's going to win. What does Kerry need to do to stay in this race?

I'm not positive Bush will get a bounce. I hope he does, and I think he will...but I'm not positive.

I've said all along that the Kerry campaign made a huge strategic mistake by focusing almost entirely on Vietnam. In general, what he needs to do is change the subject. However, I'm not sure how he can. What's happened so far is only the tip of the iceberg. Bush still has Kerry's on-record testimony before Congress protesting the war in his back pocket.

Kerry needs to act like he still has a pair and fight back.

I saw a follow-up commercial by the Swift Boat vets that looked pretty devastating to Kerry.

It quoted some of his 1971 testimony about the "atrocities" committed by US troops, and had veteran after veteran talking about how deeply hurt they were by the way Kerry betrayed his band of brothers when he returned from Vietnam.

I am not usually swayed one way or another by political commercials, but this one seemed pretty powerful.

He needs to find a way to change the subject.  Kerry played into his enemies' hands by threatening legal action against those publishing these ads and books bashing him, and by calling for a ban on ads like the Swift Boat vets' ads.  Since he has been the primary beneficiary of ads such as these run by liberal interest groups like moveon.org, and he had no problem with the ads being run favoring him, he now looks like a big hypocrite.

Badnarik trusts terrorists to destroy my life.

He's got some good ideas, though.

If Kerry went into hiding until after the election he might have a chance.

He at least needs to be at the debate. If Kerry doesn't show up, we won't get to hear both sides of the issues. Especially if Bush doesn't show up.

So you voted for the bounce before you voted against it?

Actually, Bush can stay home and Kerry will tell you why he supports both sides of the issue while at the same time opposing both sides of the issue Tongue

lol. That's what I mean; if Bush doesn't show up, conservatives won't have their voice, and if Kerry doesn't show, the conservatives won't have their other voice, nor will the libs.
