So many people on this forum seem very bright, just wondering if you are/were gifted in school.

yup. for 13 years. Kindergarten to 12th Grade. The program gave me a pretty big superiority complex.

I definatley would have been if we had a program but even when I was 10 I already knew I was damn smart and already had a superiority complex.(I suck at Math at my charter school and at public school I was one of the 4 smartest kids in my grade)

I was considered smarter than most, but I never made it into the gifted program. I recall that I got a chance to join once, but for some reason it didn't happen. And unlike Sensei I didn't need to be in it to have a superiority complex. Grin

Nope. I was always really good at history and geography, but bombed in math.

Besides, if they had offered me the chance to skip a grade, I'd have told them to shove it. Tongue

This forum is full of plenty of "gifted" individuals, regardless of whether they know it or not.

I know which answer josh22 is going to fill out.

Yeah, but the program was only cool in elementary school, when you went on field trips, did brainteasers, learned to play chess, etc. Once middle school started you just had harder classes.

Yeah, I was part of "Gifted and Talented," though I can't say I exactly made the most of it.  We did go on some really awesome field trips to places like Washington DC.  And instead of doing the boring stuff, we actually did cool stuff like seeing some Samuel Beckett performance art, sat through an FBI presentation on terrorism (where they talked, somewhat ironically, about the first WTC bombing and stated that they expect terrorists to try and make an even bigger statement through violence in the future..though that was predicted through an anthrax attack), and sat in on a meeting of the USA Today editorial board (yeah, it's the news equivalent of seeing the kitchen at McDonalds, but it was still pretty cool).

Nope. Our gifted program sucked. All you did was take tests. It gave you nothing. And I didn't need to prove my giftedness.

Haven't had a gifted program since 5th grade. I guess they figure everyone is gifted at a 70% Asian school. My guess, at least.

Yes, but the term is utterly meaningless when it comes to real-life.

Someone's jealous Smiley

Anyway, yeah but I think the G&T program was retarded, I failed the test twice being logical and then decided to write the most retarded thing I could think of, which of course passed.  Most of the kids in my honors & AP classes now were not in G&T, and for those that passed the test the first time, one is left back and a few others are doing terrible.

Sounds like your program was run by idiots. I did know one guy who was in the gifted program in my elementary school who had a 1400/1600 on his SATs and couldn't get into a good college because his grades were crap - he turned into quite the lazy bum towards the end and screwed himself over.
