If you read books on theology, church history, , politics, devotional books or basically ANY non-fiction written by Christians, who do you read?  Who do you benefit from the most?

My favorites are many and diverse. Some I agree with completely.  Others are people with whom I disagree on many things, but whose devotional ideas I often find helpful.

And they include...

Brennan Manning
C.S. Lewis
Dame Julian of Norwich
Jurgen Moltmann
N.T. Wright
J.I. Packer
Henri Nouwen
Hans Kung
Henry Blackaby
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Tony Campolo
The Desert Fathers
Ron Sider
Steve Brown
Marva Dawn
Robert Webber
Phillip Yancey
St. John of the Cross
Lee Strobel
Thomas Merton
Jim Wallis
Kallistos Ware
Madeline L'Engle
Robert Farrar Capon
John Macarthur

I love CS Lewis, and this may not count, but Bart Ehrman is really an amazing author.

Bart and I went to the same undergraduate school...Moody Bible Institute.  He has come to vastly different conclusions than I have about the basic doctrines of Christianity, but I still admire his reasoning and appreciate the civility with which he pursues discourse.

I suspect he experienced a great deal of the hypocrisy and sham-Christianity at Moody that I experienced.  But Bart chose to throw the baby out with the proverbial bathwater.

You're not a Philistine.  You're a thinker.  And that's always a good thing.  :-)

And you do know C.S. Lewis, you just don't "know" him.  Chronicles of Narnia and all that...

That's what he said about himself.  He is my favorite author about Christian and Biblical topics, by far.
