The link in that article has some interesting things:

I'm surprised it's that close to the national average.

It's that high here? I know the Midwest is very far from a hotbed of secularism but I'm surprised we compare to the South.

In response to the third point, let me paraphrase: "Unchurched people are far less likely to lie when this question is asked."

That's notably high and interestingly close to the number who define themselves as Christian when you consider the atheists in the group who would disagree with this statement (as they believe no one goes to Heaven.)

Doesn't really jive with the Christian identifying numbers.

Not a Christian(agnostic), and I've not been in a church of my former denomination for years. Ironically, the last church function I went to was a funeral in a Catholic church. I really failed to notice much of a difference between my old church and the Catholic one, but it was a funeral, so perhaps many of the traditions are the same.

Yes (I/O)... I hit no before seeing it excluded special services like weddings and funerals.

Honestly, after going to K-12 at Catholic schools, I don't think there's anything a mass service could tell me that I don't already know.

Yes. Last time I was at Church was Christmas. We haven't gone to a mass that wasn't Christmas for at least 3 years. My family hasn't gone to a regular weekend mass for probably about 8 years at least.

DUH!  I meant "No".  We are in church almost every Sunday.  And every night this week for Vacation Bible School.  My daughter's loving it.

What denomination of church do you attend these days if I may ask?  Church of Christ, which has became much more famous recently?  Smiley

I are a Whiskeypalian.  :-)

That's as opposed to being a Perspiratyerian.  They sweat too much.

No, seriously -- I was raised fundamentalist in various denominations but am now a proud member of the Frozen Chosen, the Episcopal Church in the USA.  That's hardly shocking to you, I am sure, being that you're a reasonable sort.  But I have a great many friends and relatives who are "praying for me".  In short Torie, while they have already consigned you to the flames of hell...I am right behind you on God's very long "waiting list".  ;-)
