Heather Wilson would have to win around 65% of the remaining vote to defeat Pearce. Since only 13 precincts in NM-01 remain, Pearce's margin is nearly insurmountable. It's time to close the curtains on Wilson's career.

I'll rant when it's all over. Although being given the choice of a Progressive Caucus Democrat and a Club-For-Growth Republican rather pisses me off...

Edit: And the results are wonky:

SOS, says BernCo has 425/425 precincts and all early/absentee votes in:
Wilson 24378
Pearce 11921

BernCo Clerks says 416/423 precincts and early/absentee but not hand-delivered ballots in:
Wilson 27559
Pearce 14041

So the site that says there are still precincts outstanding has MORE votes counted than the one that says they are all in. WTF?

Well, isn't that to be expected?

To respond to WMS' Heinrich attack on me, my dad has done some work with Heinrich privately in the past and while he paints himself as a liberal, he's got some moderate positions on a lot of things they worked on together so that's why I supported him.

Michelle Lujan Grisham was a good candidate, too, but she was kind of drowned by the scum that is Rebecca Vigil-Giron.

Oh and I want Udall to win the Senate race because when my grandpa got some of his benefits cut out of his federal pension (or it might've been Social Security, one of those things), Udall was the only one who responded to his letter and got something done (he sent both Senators one, too).

Yes, every part of the CD has a history of voting for McClintock several times for statewide offices.  He should carry the district pretty easily in November.

Teague's problem will be getting the Hispanics and libs to show up.  We'll see...  McCamley would have had a tougher time, though he's the better candidate.

Don supports moderates of the GOP.  Not necessarily the best candidates.

Speier getting absolutely creamed in the 12th:

U.S. Congress District 12 Democratic
Democratic 0.% ( 0 of 490 ) precincts
reporting as of Jun. 3, 2008, at 8:32 p.m.
County Returns   Other Contests
Districtwide Results
Candidate Votes Percent
  Robert M. Barrows 17,629 71.8 %
  Michelle Taylor McMurry 1,447 5.8 %
  Jackie Speier 4,900 20.0 %
  Frank Henry Wade 596 2.4 %

Where the hell did you get those numbers? Those aren't anything like the Secretary of State numbers.

Somehow, I suspect this isn't the last we hear of Heather Wilson.

He used to argue that he was supporting the candidates with the best chances of winning. Then he ended up supporting Kirk Humphreys in the OK Senate primary and Lisa Murkowski in the AK Senate primary back in 2004. I challenged him on why he would say he supports the candidates with the best chances of winning and then actually support two weaker candidates. I don't recall the answer.

Just like Carson.

So we have 21 precincts outstanding in Bernalillo, 5 in Cibola, 1 in Curry and 3 in Dona Ana. I guess the AP is waiting for Bernalillo before calling it, but they should really go ahead.

So where are the provisionals, the hand-writtens, all the other amusing New Mexico tricks we see pulled...

Do you know what recount margins are in New Mexico? I'm trying to navigate the SOS website but it, shockingly, is not the easiest thing to do.

I have no clue.  I doubt *all* the ballots have been counted yet too.  Let me see what I can find.

Hope springs eternal, but I'm sure there are some joke ballots lying around somewhere.  And you never know when someone *missed* a box or two in NM.

AP has them apart 2866.  SOS has them apart 167.

New Mexico picks interesting Secretaries of State.

I think that's because the NM SOS isn't counting Dona Ana yet.

I seriously hope, for everyone's sake, that there's not some clerical error that involves changing a few thousand votes.
