wyoming or west virginia?

hindsight is always 20/20. I am one of those who thought McCain would do better in WV back in June. However, at that point, I thought the election would be about cultural issues: flag pins, guns, gays, abortion, and other such nonsense. The financial meltdown totally changed the dynamic of the race.

I think it's one of those Mean vs Standard Deviation things. I think Wyoming probably has a higher mean, but a lower standard deviation, so in a good national result for McCain, WV may have outperformed. In a tight contest, Wyoming probably would outperform WV, and in a tough result for McCain, Wyoming would almost definitely outperform WV.

Don't know if I'm right or not - that's just a thought I have on it that I thought I'd put out there.

EDIT: That means that Wyoming has more Republicans than WV, but Republicans + Swingers to the Republicans is greater in WV than in Wyoming.
