'seceded' is the correct spelling

NC is out - Jesse Helms.

I put VA because of NoVa.

Illegally?  So the proponent of secession doesn't believe in secession for others?

Yes, but the Restored Government of Virginia approved the creation of WV.  They created the state of Kanawha out of the pro-Union, anti-slavery counties in the west and then renamed themselves West Virginia.

It was originally created in 1863.  Maybe the post-war VA gov't was forced to accept this fact through various budgetary means, but WV became a state in time to vote in the 1864 election.

They never left; their governments did.

I believe in secession, where desired by the majority, and revolution, where justified and necessary.  I do not believe in secession to defend tyranny and slavery.
