Not really.  Public schools are very close, but that's not anywhere I ever need to go. Closest grocery is about a mile, which is ok if the weather is nice, but it's really not worth it most of the time

Sure, I can walk to the mailbox, my neighbors' house, the far end of my back yard.  I could do several laps of the house if I wanted to.

I walk home from school 2-3 times a week, and I can walk to a shopping centre if I wanted to.

There are no grocery stores or real shopping places within walking distance, but there are banks and restaurants. And my elementary and high school are very close Smiley

Nope.  I live out in the country in eastern Oklahoma County and my closest grocery store and business district is 2 1/2 miles away in Newalla, Oklahoma.  The closest shopping center is 8 miles away in Choctaw.

There's a Burger King and a Denny's a couple of blocks away. Also, the town hall and rec center. I have to go everywhere else by car.

If you consider walking distance to be about 2 miles or less, I could walk to almost anything you could ever want once Xanadu opens

Technically, I could walk to a lot of places, but it's more fun to drive!

Pizza Hut is just round the corner. A strip mall and some grocery stores are ten minutes walk another way. The main campus is half an hour down the road.

Basically everything I need is there.

Easily. Downtown is maybe a fifteen-minute walk. The bus stop for the bus into New York is a ten-minute walk; I do that one every weekday morning and evening when the weather is nice (I drive to the bus stop otherwise; too far to walk in the rain).

Before college I could walk to school and there was some stuff in the village and the mall is sorta close, still about a 20-30 min. walk. Nothing else.

Post office, courthouse, my work, couple of restaraunts, coffee house, the schools, the park, two groceries, CVS, McDonalds, etc. If you choose to walk more than ten minutes you could go to Wal-Mart, the video store, another grocery, and Burger King. There's no sidewalk at some parts though.

The Post Office is a mile from my apt.

The nearest supermarket is a mile from my apt.

My school is a touch over two miles from my apt.

The mall is three miles from my apt.

And entertainment, such as that may be had in south-central TX, is 100 miles away, in Houston.

With the exception of entertainment, I'd have to do a damn bit of walking to make it through the a typical work day.

Yes, though walking across the bridge is kind of a pain, if hot.  To get to the better supermarket requires driving, however.

Of course, because I live in Thailand.  I can walk to lots of places to eat, drink, buy fruit, and get coffee.  Also there is a 7-11 within walking distance (when I say walking distance I mean I can pretty much see these places from my apartment.

Anyway, back home I can walk around 35 acres of lawn (not well kept), really top notch older growth woods, a tiny pond, a cave, a stream, and an old collapsed barn.  I could walk to the nearest neighbors houses but they'd probably shoot me.

From my current residence, a hospital and a Baptist Church.  I have no desire to walk to either of those places.
