I agree Romney would be the best pick for McCain, as I have stated in previous threads.

The reasons are obvious, and are very well laid out in this article.

I doubt, however, that Romney will be getting the VP call from McCain.

What is much more likely, should McCain win the Presidency, is that he taps Romney for Secretary of the Treasury.
