Dunno if this has been done before, but...what would a map look like if Dean had been the nominee?

That's what I think, except I think Bush would win Maine.

I gave it to Dean because it's fairly similar to Vermont.

I'd vote Dean, but Bush would almost definitely win.

Sad really...Dean isn't a nut but he could easily be painted as such.

Bush might even pick up HI with a long shot at CT if he ran there heavily.

Dean is just an awful candidate nationally.  Like Jerry Brown.  Good in his state, but not good anywhere else.

According to the poll, Dean seems to be winning by a fairly large margin.

I think it's sad that a perfectly good presidential candidate with good values lets a high pitched note go once and there goes his campaign.

Dean would have made a pretty good president.

Dean allowed himself to get painted as the far left candidate by the media, long before the "I have a Scream" speech.  That is what caused him to lose.

I originally supported Dean.  Still do, really, but I recognize that he doesn't realistically have a chance.

I think Dean would've had a good shot at beating Bush because he'd be able to appeal to the very political and very liberal youngins who don't vote, but Kerry has a better shot.

he still helped us because of all the new voters he mobilized.

I have to laugh at all the conservatives who said he'd run as a third party or endorse Nader. He's a good loyal man who trashed the sh!t out of that worthless egomaniac. Kudos to Kucinich for doing the same.

Speaking of worthless egomaniacs...haha I remember when Wellstone died and the Democrats used his *funeral* to promote the party, even Jesse was utterly disgusted.

Now that guy was a nut, I met him and he had a fervor for all these issues even liberal college students couldn't get behind!

And, knowing that Minnesota would be a bit less socialist with him and Vento gone was a nice thought.  Sucks that his whole family died though.

Still, I have a sick sense of humor and thought in extremely bad taste I should make some "Tombstone!" stickers.  Never did, but it's still amusing to me, sick bastard I am.  But hey, I lost my father at 52 (I was 17) so I know what it's like but Wellstone's politics were nuts.

I would've gone for Dean, but Bush would win easily. It would've been almost a repeat of 1984, with Dean picking up VT, NY, MA, DC and RI instead of MN.

I liked Dean as  acandidate but the moent talk radio got hold of him it was all over.

He would have made a very good President considerring the mess that we are in now and with Republicans acting like Ostriches.

Dean would not have won nationally but i might have considerred voting for him. Deans convention would have been very hostile.

Just look at the world today, anybody should be beating Bush.  Kerry just sat back while he was getting pummeled by the swiftboats veterans and Bush campaign.  Dean would've fought back, and he would have won over amlot of people with his fiery nature (I don't think people get "scared off" in mass numbers, look at Zell Miller's speech).  I think people greatly underestimate how well he would've done, my guess is....

Dean 257
Bush  281

Hell....he might have even taken Florida.  He'd win 284 to 254 then.

Zell Miller is a little more than people can handle. Howard Dean has the right amount of passion and agressiveness that would have turned the tide in his favor.

Dean would not have had to deal with Swift Boat Vets. and i also think Dean would have done much better than Kerry.

people have to remember that Kerry voted to authorize the use of force against Iraq... while Dean did not. so Dean would have been more powerful with the anti-war crowd.

i'm kinda glad that Dean isn't running because i would consider voting for him... esp if Dean's position was the same as Badnarik's: withdraw as quickly and safely as possible.

i am a new libertarian and i voted for Gore last time because i didn't even know there was another option available (thank god for the internet). and i think this is a great opportunity for Badnarik and the LP because both Kerry and Bush are Pro-War.

also, Michael Badnarik stated at the LNC that he would have no problems with sending the U.S. Navy Seals or Army Rangers after Bin Laden.

I really think it would heavily depend on how well the campaign went. However, if he did as well as Kerry is doing right now:

I doubt he'd win.

EDIT: Argh! Sorry.
