No, the surrender date was actually yesterday... it is just celebrated one day later by most Eastern Europeans because of a time zone difference between Berlin and Moscow. Wink

Ironically, yesterday was also the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Israel according to the Hebrew calender.

Of course I know that in Western Europe and the US it's celebrated on the 8th. I simply thought that it would be more appropriate.
And I don't want to nitpick, but if one takes into account Summer time (See here), then the surrender became active on the 9th even in Western Europe. Wink

We watched some of the Moscow Victory Day parades today in Russian class. Besides the fact that military parades are very cool to watch is was quite a mixture of chilling and entertaining viewing.
