The media's hatchet job on Obama has backfired.

Obama's handling of Wright situation
60-23 approve overall, 68-22 among Democratic primary voters

Obama's comments on Wright
52% of voters say he was about right, 26% not critical enough, 6% too critical

Obama leads McCain 51-40

http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/MAY08A-Politics.pdf

It's time for the right-wing propaganda outfits (also known as the "mainstream media") to find a new bullsh**t line of attack. It was the entire media, the Clinton and McCain campaigns against Obama, and Obama won this.

Doesn't this poll also have Obama +11 (and Clinton +12), and Obama hugely up in he primary?  Seems a little like an outlier to me.

To be fair, Clinton somehow leads McCain 53-41.

Most of us know that CBS/NYT polls aren't usually very good but the important thing is the media won't care about that and this poll could finally generate some positive coverage for Obama.

Gallup has McCain over Obama by 5 today.

Rasmussen has McCain up 3.

But we're supposed to believe that Obama has busted out from a 45-45 tie in the last CBS/NYT poll released Wednesday to lead by 11 four days later.

Yes, it provided Obama some positive coverage.  Uh, that is what it was designed to do.

Really, the NYT needs to register as as a 527 for Obama.

Funny how those fly by night organizations, Rasmussen and Gallup haven't picked up this massive movement.

You can't make this crap up.

And they've been pretending like they didn't for a while now.

Even if they didn't intentionally screw with the poll, it's still a bad poll.  Tongue

Endorsements really have nothing to do with the quality or results of the polling, but we already knew that.  CBS has a methodology - it's just flawed in many respects.

Obama should have defended his friend when he was being attacked. He just proved Wright's statement that Obama is a politician.

Lol, Jfern...you're sinking to using CBS polls now? Sure this was a poll of non-elite average Americans. Tongue

IIRC, a real pollster made a poll on what people thought about Obama's latest Wright-speech and the results were not strong for him.

Polling may suggest that voters don't care about Wright, but during the week that the Wright controversy erupted Obama's 12 point lead in N.C. dropped to 7.5 and the dead heat race in Indiana turned into a 5 point Clinton lead.  People may be saying one thing, but I have a hard time believing these events are not related.
