Have been all over North London today, knocking up and leafleting... generally very positive for the Blues, but then again its all anecdotal and with an electorate the size of London you cant get any real idea from covering even a fairly large area... what i can say is that 'Metroland' will be very good for Boris.

Count starts at 8,30. The result probably won't be in till the afternoon as there's a lot of ballots to count.

Ugh, I read earlier today that we can't expect results until tomorrow. I was hoping they were mistaken.  Sad

Just got back from Lewisham where I've been knocking up for the Greens (I'm not going to debate my stance in this thread in case anyone is about to comment on that). The only particularly notable piece of information I have is that one polling district (in the Ladywell ward I think) had 60% turnout, so rumours of "high" turnout (for a non-general in London) apply to inner London as well as outer London.

I've also gathered the impression that a lot of ticket splitting has taken place in that many people have voted for Ken Livingstone for Mayor and Green for assembly (the London wide list, less so the constituencies). Not surprising at all really.

Given where I was in London I can't comment on the Conservative and Lib Dem vote.. I guess it depends on who gains and who loses from improved turnout in inner London(?).

Turnout was apparently good in my borough too.

Sky reporting that Boris is very likley to have won... racking up big margins in the burbs, while the high turnout in inner-London has not been totally to Ken's advantage. Will need to wait and see, but Boris ahead in 10/14 constituencies, Ken ahead in 4/14 (acording to the BBC and Sky).

If that's true, it's marvellous news. I'm also desperate to see how we performed in Inner London.

There were some local by-elections in London counted this morning. Solid Tory holds in Hale and Millwall, a Labour gain (off LibDem) in Weavers.

Bearing in mind how well the Tories did in places that are most like London... um... Johnson to win, sadly.

According to The East London Advertiser it's neck and neck; Livingstone leads in City & East and Greenwich & Lewisham, while Johnson leads in Havering & Redbridge and Bexley & Bromley. And the Labour candidate is leading in the GLA election in City and East.

Did you expect Livingston to struggle in either City&East or Greenwich&Lewisham?... what is interesting is that the counts from the inner London areas are the most advanced and have the smaller number of votes to count so it could be that the suburbs and metroland have simply out voted the inner city.

Of course not and nothing I wrote indicated otherwise.
