Obama 12 points ahead of McCain. So much for the GOP hacks who thought this would never change.

Bad news for the GOP. Looks like Massachusetts is off the table now.

This poll must dissapoint AHDuke, who thought McCain was actually going to be competitive in Massachusetts.

It's a laughing icon. I didn't think there was a good icon on this site for my thoughts on the righties who though Massachusetts was going to be in play.

I'm trying to hard to keep up with the chain here, so bear with me.  Here's where I'm up to so far:

1. One person (Lief) predicts Obama to win Kansas in the general election.
2. AHDuke takes this prediction and applies it to Obama supporters, claiming that a substantial group of them believe the same.
3. Partially to poke fun at the aforementioned Obama supporters, AHDuke predicts that John McCain wins Massachusetts.
4. ChrisFromNJ takes this predictions and applies it to McCain supporters, claiming that "the righties" (plural) believe the same.

There have been numerous people here who think McCain will be competitive in Massachusetts with Obama as the nominee.

Mmm, that's what AHDuke said about Kansas too, IIRC.

Can you name anyone who has said that McCain will win Massachusetts? In fact, can you name anyone who has predicted that Obama will win by, say, less than 5%?

I'm not the only one that thought Massachusetts could be competitive, but I have always said I still was skeptic about all these polls showing it close. Josh22 has also said that MA could be competitive if McCain were to win by 5% nationally.

This makes sense to me more than the others did. I still think McCain could break 40% in Massachusetts.

Ok, name those then. And I will note that under AHDuke's definition of competitive (which was a bit strange, admittedly) this does not prove him wrong. So, show me someone who said anything that this poll actually refutes.

Just for the record, there are currently 15 people with prediction maps showing McCain winning Massachusetts.  Thats out of a total of 766 predictions.

Yes, but trying to browse for them I think few of them come from people who actually post in the forum. There is Jamespol, but he's not a Republican hack, he's just trollish. And there is DWTL and well, what else is there to say?

I don't recall anyonem, except Politicaltipster maybe, actually predicting MA for McCain. And even he did it with a sort-of caveat.

Ah, the last bastion of the person who can't back up their own assertions:  "find the evidence for my claims yourself!"

Oh, so you're only here to make baseless claims and assertions that you can't back up and then run away from them when you're called on it. Good to know.

41-59 is certainly within the realm of possibility.

IIRC the Obama winning Kansas map was in a "What's the best case scenario for Obama/Sebelius?" thread, not a prediction that Obama is more likely to win Kansas than not.

That hasn't stopped Duke and Phil however to extrapolate that one map to "All Obama supporters think Obama will win Kansas." I've had this exchange with them before:

Me: I don't see how McCain can win Minnesota. He doesn't appeal to the state on any issue.
Hack: Oh yes, stupid McCain will never win Minnesota because it just hates him right? And of course he'll lose Kansas no doubt against the great Obama!
