From CBS News taped from WJW-TV 8 in Cleveland, OH in November 1988, nearly 20 years ago. Each part is roughly 10 minutes...giving you a good 40 minutes or so of Election Night 1988 coverage.

I've been waiting for this stuff for a few months...this guy is real nice and uploaded the 1980 and 1984 election night coverage...and says he has more videos including 1992 election all the way through 2000.

That coverage makes me want to punch Dan Rather so bad.

A black guy ran against Chuck Robb?

He only got above 40% in some heavily GOP counties where Bush got 70%.

I noticed that one of the reporters was talking about a socialist candidate(Bernie Sanders) that was on track to win VT-AL.  He didnt end up winning, but is there any more coverage of House races for 1988?

I didn't know Sanders lost his first run for that seat, but now looking it up you're right. I found the commentary on it very interesting in hindsight obviously.

The guy has about three hours worth...and I'm sure that includes the declaration of President-elect Dukakis...but he said 45 minutes is enough to upload. He offered me to buy a DVD of it for a small fee.

Dan Rather and Bob Scheifer are class.

Surely Dukakis didn't think that '18 state strategy' had a snowballs chance in hell of working.

I gotta admit...I used to dislike Dan Rather (I grew up with Brokaw and Jennings as household names), but as I look back...he was cool, no doubt.

Illinois was the last battleground state to be called that night.  It was shown on NBC's ending credits as TCTC.
