On the republican side, Huckabee, Romney, and McCain run a tight campaign. So tight, that there is no candidate going into the convention. After the second ballot, the convention is so split and no agreement can be made, the party leaders decide on Jeb Bush and they ask him to accept the nomination. Bush agrees and comes to the convention to accept the nomination. Bush selects Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania as his running mate. All other three candidates endorse Bush.

On the democratic side, the democrats also run a close race. However, Clinton emerges on the first ballot by a very thin margin after a floor fight. Michigan and Florida delegates are not seated. This turns democratic voters off in those states. Clinton selects Tom Vilsack as her running mate.

Ralph Nader runs as a independent with Matt Gonzales as his running mate.

Discuss with maps.

The tickets are:

Jeb Bush/Tom Ridge
vs.
Hillary Clinton/Tom Vilsack
vs.
Ralph Nader/Matt Gonzales

Hillary Clinton/Tom Vilsack (D): 333 EV, 52% of the PV
Jeb Bush/Tom Ridge (R): 205 EV, 48% of the PV

Nobody with Bush as a last name would want to run in 2008 or at least for another 50 years, thus Bush loses to Hillary convincingly.

Well George P. Bush can run for President in about 20 years, when the Bush name is normal again. That's if the Bush name can be normal after the Presidency of George W. Bush.

I think 50 is more on. In 20 years parents will still be telling their kids how horrible Bush was and that will have a big affect on them.

I can't imagine how this would actually happen.

edit: just realized that I have Bush losing Florida. If he had been Gov. of any other state I would have it that way and it's not unreasonable here either, considering that another Bush would be such a bitter pill to swallow.
