Will there ever be any third parties that will become as big as the Greens, Libertarians, and the Constitution Party?  Assuming that these three don't break apart or collapse, I mean.  Could the Peace and Freedom Party have become big if Cindy Sheehan had gone third party?  Could Lou Dobbs/Michael Savage/Tancredo/Duncan Hunter or someone have formed a new nativist party?  I guess they'd probably join up with the Constitution Party or the American First Party or one of those other minor far right parties, on second thought.

Of the people you mentioned, Cindy Sheehan's 15 minutes of fame ended some time ago. If Dobbs, Tancredo, Savage, and others form a new isolationist anti-immigrant 3rd party, it MIGHT gain some traction, but wouldn't last more than an election or two. The thing about 3rd parties in America is that if they prove sufficiently popular, their positions tend to get absorbed by one or the other major parties.

The constitution party is going nowhere IMO. While they may occaisionally gripe, the religious right is happy in the Republican party, and that affords them far, far more influence than they would have supporting a fringe 3rd party with no chance of gaining power. They may look stupid, but they're not.
