George H.W. Bush/Dan Quayle (R): 321 EV, 51% of the PV
Chuck Robb/Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D): 217 EV, 48% of the PV
Others (Libertarians, Socialists, ect): 0 EV, 1% of the PV

In this 1988 scenario, I think Vice President Bush would still be able to win. However the Democratic ticket of Robb/Moynihan would do much better than the RL Dukakis/Bentsen ticket. I forsee Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri and Pennsylvania all voting for Chuck Robb in this matchup.

no way robb would have run in 88.  he scared incumbent senator paul trible out of office and basically had the senate seat handed to him.  his opponent was maurice dawkins..i think.  a black republican.

in 92, robb was scared off by bush's high poll numbers .  he was obviously eyeing 1996, but decided to attend cocaine parties and have sex with tai collins instead of becoming president.

I think pretty much anyone other than Dukakis would have beat Bush in 1988.  Bush didnt win it, Dukakis lost it.

Possible. I wonder what would've happened if Perot ran in '88?
