I hope this is a trend. We need a permanent shift of national polls towards Obama to make the case that he is unelectable. And then Hillary can come in and win the nomination. This is a good start.

Exactly.  Obama supporters are not going to just surrender to Hillary if she steals this.  You will likely see half of the delegates storm out of the convention in protest if this happens.

That's quite a shift to Clinton on the previous USA Today/Gallup poll (April 18-20): Obama is down by 6; Clinton up by 11

However, the general election match-ups are now:

McCain 48 (+4) - Obama 47 (n/c)

McCain 49 (+5) - Clinton 46 (-4)

Gallup is Gallup and certainly not a model in the polling business (cfr 2004).

Gallup is pretty good for national general election polls, but is substandard in state polls and primaries.
