Hard to vote against freedom fighter here, I think. I only learned a few months ago that she was a Socialist in her later life, despite performing The Miracle Worker in 7th grade (I played James.)

When you live through so much hardship, socialism sounds like perfection.

I'm quite surprised she couldn't see how socialism wouldn't work out. Must not have heard about all the bad things.

Very unfortunate circumstances, but I have to applaud her for making of it what she could.

It didn't sound like anything to her.

Definite FF. I admire her for making the most of what she had.

Certainly our society focuses on Helen Keller as a disabled person, but it's important to note that people with disabilities can/should also be known for their other attributes.

I find it amazing that so many people don't know about her radicalism, considering that's most of what she did with her life. Leave it to publik skools to whitewash that part out.

I'm sure private schools spend at least a week on the politics of Helen Keller.

Nope, never brought up where I went to school. All we even learned about her was that stupid cheese movie.

Unfortunately.

I dislike the history taught in schools in general. Though I suppose it's a necessary evil.

Hahahaha.

If they don't mention her political views (wasn't she in the IWW at one point), it's not because the public education system is trying to brainwash you all into accepting Socialism. Quite the reverse generally; the idea of such censorship is to remove politics, period.

History is awkard and confusing. Difficult that.
