In 1968

After a hard fought primary season, Governor Nelson Rockefeller of New York defeats former Vice President Richard Nixon of California to win the Republican presidential nomination.

Rockefeller selects his friend and ally Governor George Romney of Michigan for Vice President.

In a bitter contest, Senator Eugene McCarthy of Minnesota defeats Vice President Hubert Humphrey, also of Minnesota, to win the Democratic presidential nomination.

Determined to end the Vietnam war as quickly as possible, McCarthy picks fellow peace candidate Senator George McGovern of South Dakota for Vice President.

Thank you for your replies, however, there are no segregationist or third party tickets running in this election.

Any thoughts about how this election goes with just the two tickets
