In comparison with most countries of list (excepting Cuba and Belarus) China has rather good  human rights.

Very true.  I guess I should have said that the mission of human peace, unity and the dignity of mankind that the Olympics once claimed to represent has become laughably irrelevant.  Of course, one could say that has been the case since 1936 and its just gotten worse since.

Very true.  I guess I should have said that the mission of human peace, unity and the dignity of mankind that the Olympics once claimed to represent has become laughably irrelevant.  Of course, one could say that has been the case since 1936 and its just gotten worse since.

Very true. At this point, it's a commercial spectacle that gets placed in the United States every two decades because NBC says so.

Given that China helped finance the stimulus package I wouldn't be surprised. They're sort of like the US was after WWII, the world's leading creditor nation.
