Mississippi used to be my favorite state back in second grade when I based my preferences on how the state was pronounced.

Mine used to be North Carolina until the second grade.

.....and 56 and 57 is what happened in LA and AL.... so that's what I will expect here.

*so far* this contest is much closer than i expected.

obama might not crack 60% after all.

Without knowing which precincts are out where, it's nearly impossible to make any predictions.  Just enjoy the ride.

Hey, Harry.  I like Mississippi.  But I'm the kind of clean-cut white person with a quasi-Southern accent that they're comfortable being around.
All types of people are accepted here, people of all races, both genders, and sexual orientations.  Do not buy into what the bigots claim.

both genders? So hermaphrodites wouldn't be accepted in Mississippi?

hermaphrodites are a sex, not a gender.  But in response to your question, not unless they kept it secret, probably.  But that's the case everywhere in the US, so you can't just fault Mississippi.

Obama margin just jumped to 16 points.  Not sure why - Hinds County didn't change, from what I see.

I hijacked it by going off on a tangent about how it's completely acceptable in the US to make fun of Southerners and call them stupid, yet it's unacceptable to do the same thing about a particular race or sex, and it's becoming unacceptable to do it based on sexual orientation.

It's supposed to be about the results of the Mississippi Democratic primary.

They must have updated the % reporting before the actual totals, because last refresh had them up to 78% with Obama +10.

That makes a lot more sense.  Tongue

Map of Mississippi CD's is here. Clinton has no doubt won one, in the NE, and Obama won one.

Actually Obama is going to win the 3rd CD too, so the only ones out are the 4th I think where Obama is running surprisingly well since it has a relatively low black percentage. The 1st might be might be close too.  I am surprised Clinton is not running better in DeSoto. The reason is that more voters in that county voted in the GOP primary in the Dem one I think.

Edit: I see the same is true for the two populated Gulf coast counties, heavily white, where again more voted in the GOP primary. McCain "saved" Obama in maybe 2 of the CD's, as it were.

It looks to me that Obama will win all 4 CD's, with only the 1st in question.

Yeah, you could argue that.
