Both Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul are maverick Congressman who ran for their party's presidential nomination.  Both represent solidly partisan districts and are facing primary challengers due to their status as people who are willing to buck the party line.  So what happens in 2008, will both end up going, surviving or will it be the end for only one of them?

Sociologically, Kucinich's district is quite like Dan Lipinski's. Make of that what you will.

They will both likely survive.

By my count, an average of two House members lose primaries per election since 1996. We've already had our two for this cycle, so I'm gonna say both win their primaries.

I hope Kucinich loses and Paul survives (because anyone who replaces Paul in that district would be even worse), but they'll probably both survive.

people seem to be sick of politicians in general this cycle, so we might have more get primaried than average. However, I don't think Paul or Kucinich will be among them: both are well-funded and well-known.

For the record, both won fairly easily.

Both won without much effort. Which is good to hear, at least as far as Kucinich is concerned. I'm glad that the guy who had the balls to stand up to George W. Bush when it mattered back in 2003, gets to stay with us and continue contributing.

I'm glad about Paul too: even though some of his views are pretty wacky, it's at least good that his voice is out there and being heard.
