Comrades, I have just realised that we have yet to elect a chairman. Or are we doing things via the ancient principles of carve-up and first-come-first-serve rather than democratically?

I agree, that will make things much easier.  However why not simply make the Shadow PM and chairman one in the same?

That sounds reasonable, though I have been running things to this point.

Yes. I've noticed.

As far as the Antillia Labour Party is concerned, the situation is now very serious indeed. I doubt that I will be able to prevent the Party from taking drastic action if things do not change.

There will be no further comment from me on any of this until the morning.

The ALP is NOT happy with the way negotiations are being conducted. To be seen TO BE OPENLY HAGGLING OVER POSITIONS will NOT go down well with the public, or, for that matter, our membership.

We have other issues will the way things are being conducted as well, but feel it would be wrong to mention them publically.

What is wrong with reaching agreement in the open, so long as we don't degenerate into pointless bickering?  So far the discussions have been conducted in a cordial manner that speaks well of us.

I invite Mr. Hordern and Mr. Watson to private meetings to discuss issues between the parties. When the leader of the Greens emerges, they will also be welcomed.

I believe it is necessary to have a fair division of roles between parties, and to give each party responsibilities that it fits with, but I would suggest that the parties are independant of eachother.

I have put myself forward to be the Left's parliamentary leader because I think it is necessary for us to have a leader, and I have been highly involved in restarting Antillia. My party is also the largest in the bloc. If the other Left bloc parties are not satisfied with my candidacy, I encourage them to stand an alternative candidate for the position. If I am, however, elected I will demand final say on my cabinet, but I will attempt where possible to have that cabinet meet the demands of all coalition parties. I will also consider the role of Prime Minister as two quotas, those of Foreign Affairs and Treasury and Finance as 1.5 quotas and each other post 1 quota. The Deputy LBL will also be given a 1 quota department making it worth 2 quotas, and cannot be from the same party as the Left Bloc Leader.

I ask the people of my party to accept my intervention, and assure them that whilst my first priority is a strongly aligned bloc with a happy coalition, the SDP's interests will always be represented by myself.

This is acceptable to us.

Would Dockers House be an acceptable meeting place? The DW&GLU doesn't use it anymore and their leader, Mr Mawkin, is a senior member of the ALP. It could become a permanent home for the Left bloc, if you all like.

I have no personal objection, and personally thank the ALP for the offer, but I do not speak for my party.

That is acceptable, but are Treasury and Finance are separate posts, or is that the name of one single post?

Dockers House is acceptable as a meeting place for Left Bloc consultations.

I would have liked Foreign Affairs, but I am quite pleased with Welfare. No objections here.

As a stylistic note on the logo, the Indian community really don't use the languages form the sub-continent. Their mother tongue is English and they speak English. They are included in English language stats. Hindi, Bangali, etc. wouldn't really be heard, seen or written in Antillia.

In that case, I'll fix it tomorrow.

Portuguese doesn't evoke pleasant memories in the Left (due the fact that they're mostly pseudo-fascists), and I'll take off the Hindi when I get home. There's no Bengali (though I speak it). Tumi Bangla bòlo?

Well you should still put Portugese up their even if most are Fascists. There has to be some Leftists Portugese, and we shouldn't risk pissing them off...
