The first order of business is the construction of a Shadow Cabinet, starting with a Shadow Prime Minister. Nominations will be taken for 48 hours; self-nominations are acceptabble. I will not be a candidate for Shadow Prime Minister.

Given the current sizes of the parties, having a Social Democrat be the Shadow Prime Minister makes the most sense unless no Social Democrat is willing.

I nominate Vijay Prabhusanjil for Shadow Prime Minister.

I worry that many of the people represented by my party would not take to kindly to the idea of having a young ethnic bussynessman as Prime Minister.

Mr Hordern would seem to be the most electable. I would nominate Mr Dudley but it would seem that he has not been well of late.

Though I'm not actually opposed to Mr Prabhoosangel being PM. I like him.

I was thining of someone more along the lines of Mr. Hill, bcause, as Mr. Hordern pointed out, us Social Democrats form a majority in the Left BLoc.

I'd be happy if you guys want me.  However I'd be satisfied with most of the other fellows in the Bloc as well.

I would very much enjoy my SDP fellow as our Shadow Prime Minister.  As a side note I believe it would be best to appoint Mr. Hordern as what amounts to a Deputy Secretary Prime Minister to ensure party balance and then when we inevitably take a larger number of seats than the right bloc divide the remaining positions equally among the parties.

My own preference is Shadow Minister of Finance, given the importance my party puts on banking and finance issues, but I would be willing to accept Shadow Deputy Prime Minister in conjunction with a specific Shadow Ministry.

I personally would like to be Shadow Secretary of Foreign Affairs.  What sort of positions should we push for in the new government?

I wanted to be Foreign Minister, too. Oh man. Sad

PM
Deputy PM
Minister of Finance
Foreign Minister
Attorney General
Minister of Home Affairs

I propose that Social Credit recieve the post of Deputy Prime Minister, Labor recieve the Ministry of Finance, the Greens recieve the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Social Democrats recieve the posts of Prime Minister and Attorney General and the Foreign Ministry.

The ALP is not happy with the way negotiations are being conducted. To be seen to be openly haggling over positions will not go down well with the public.

The Left Bloc is currently assigning portfolios to various parties, who can assign them as they please. If the ALP has a different proposal, we would all appreciate hearing it. Are you unhappy with the Ministry of Finance?

While Deputy Prime Minister is nice, by itself it's meaningless.  An actual ministry would definitely be appreciated, with or without the DPM position.

It would do, although unless we get in a Cod War or the like, it might not amount to much.

The ALP is NOT happy with the way negotiations are being conducted. To be seen TO BE OPENLY HAGGLING OVER POSITIONS will NOT go down well with the public, or, for that matter, our membership.

We have other issues will the way things are being conducted as well, but feel it would be wrong to mention them publically.

Comrades, I have just realised that we have yet to elect a chairman. Or are we doing things via the ancient principles of carve-up and first-come-first-serve rather than democratically?

I agree, that will make things much easier.  However why not simply make the Shadow PM and chairman one in the same?
