How abut no languages?

Something simple would be nice; maybe a white field with a blue arrow pointing left. There are four points for the four parties.

Red. It must be red. Not blue.

Red with a green arrow?

I dunno; seems too much like the Right's banner.

I'm not concerned about the layout. But the colour matters.

Why the green? And why the stars? They just look Communist.

Green is the main color of half our parties.

And since when has looking Communist been a bad thing? Wink

But the stars were Hugh's idea.

Mr Khan, I don't think you quite understand. Symbolism matters in such things.

Perhaps I do not. I have tried to make red the focus.

I suggested no stars, and would vote against any proposal including them.

Perhaps this?

*official statement on behalf of the Left Bloc*

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, people of Antillia and the world;

Four hours ago our nation first learned that Mr. Thurston Jones, aged 6, and a prominent member of the Antillian political scene, passed away.

We mourn his loss and commend him on his life of service. We sympathise with his family and friends, many of whom have signed this message today.

A sweet passage awaits.

M. Denoix has suggested a cross-bloc cabinet for the first sitting of parliament and until elections are held.

We have strength of numbers to override this suggestion, and I am of two minds on this. On the one hand, it would be good to commence our nation's new democratic era in a multi-partisan, bi-bloc way; on the nother, we have the opportunity to ensure that the democracy represents the views of our supporters, who form the majority of Antillian voters.

I will withold my own vote on the proposal, but I request that all other members of the bloc vote Aye or Nay on this proposal within the next 72 hours. You can do so in this thread.

Other items on the agenda include a sincere apology to Mr. Thurston Jones, who is indeed alive and kicking. The mistake was made by myself; the Mr. Jones that has passed away was a valuable member of the ALP's executive.

Finally, I ask for final submissions on the bloc logo to be presented within the next 72 hours.

Thank you,.

I believe the cross bloc cabinet is a great idea though we will of course hold onto the Prime Ministership itself.

It depends on whether I keep my job. Wink

But am I correect in assuming this would only last until elections are held? I can't really think of any precedent in other countries for such an idea.

The idea would only be acceptable if we had control of social policy (ie; health, welfare, etc).

Fax from M. Denoix

There is a 'presumtiveness' within the Left Bloc that is regrettable. You have no right to rule without election, by decree simply because you have the largest party membership. Any moves to do so without justification will not go unnoticed.

OOC:

I think (though I could be very wrong) that the problem here is that Hugh is working on this basis:

All parties, please align yourselves to the Left or Rght in this thread.

Both blocs shall have 20 gauranteed members of parliament, with the other 10 being determined proportionally by the size of each bloc-so if 60% of members are aligned to the Left bloc, they get 6/10 seats, for example.

While Andrew isn't.

OOC -

That's not really too much of an issue. Its more about the idea of forming an administration without an 'election' beforehand. It seems ludicrous that after a dictatorship any democrat on either bloc would be presumtive about which bloc forms a government simply because one has more members than the other. I don't think the outside world would take too kindly to that either. We should either have a short period of 'unity' government before an election or not form a government until one is held.

Greetings everyone! If there is no objection, I, Julius Hardin, would like to join the Left Bloc, as a current member of the SDP. Please excuse any mistakes I make in the coming days, Im still trying to get a total grasp on everything around here. Smiley
