I love how the networks are giving Obama what is essentially a free, hour-long commercial.

look at raw vote totals at 37%; total democratic voters 340,000.  Total republican 130,000.  Same pattern as other primaries

Quite frankly, the more I listen to Obama, the more bored I become.  But then again, I get annoyed by sermons in church that last longer than 15 minutes as well, so maybe I'm not the best analyst.

I think he's putting meat on the bones a bit.  Not soaring, but better.

Unfortunately, I've heard a lot of this healing crap before.  1976, from Jimmy Carter.

Reminds me of Bush's 2000 rhetoric about restoring morality to Washington.  More implausible promises from a D.C outsider. Wink

What exactly is the reason to vote in the Republican primary again?

Ask J. J., who believed McCain would win over more independents than Obama in Virginia.

I never bought into that one myself, BRTD.  However, it is one of the things that will distinguish Texas, ever so slightly, because the downballot races will be on the ballot in that contest...

Other states hold separate Presidential and down-ballot primaries? That's odd...

Which on paper shouldn't be that strong for Obama. Sure he'd win the blacks easily but the white population of Milwaukee is the type Obama usually got murdered in.

The only other state which held a simultaneous Presidential/down-ballot primary so far is Illinois.

EDIT:  Add Maryland.

Eh, I guess living in Texas has just led me to assume that other states do it that way as well.

What a waste of money though...

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has them. The delegate awards are 8 to CD 2, 5 to CDs 5 and 6, and 6 to the rest.

In looking at the numbers, I don't care what the exit polls say. A huge number of Republicans voted in the Dem primary, and fattened Obama's margin. Look at Waukesa (sp) county, a heavily GOP county (Milwaukee suburbs to the west). The turnout there will be about 80,000, versus 50,000 in 2004, and 3-2 over the GOP turnout. It would have been a pretty close election on the Dem side without the GOP crossover. And it shows how weak Huckabee is north of the Mason Dixon line. McCain won big even with a lot of more moderate Pubbies voting for Obama.

One other thing. Obama is doing just fine in working class Catholic Counties, Alcon. I see no difference. Indeed, Hillary is doing better in rural counties that are more Lutheran.

They assume that Presidential primary prestige in being early is better than cheapness.

Texas has some weird constitutional requirement (I think) that makes it quite hard to separate the two (or hold it much earlier than March 4), though the state leg. tried unsuccessfully to do so last year.

It would have been a pretty close election on the Dem side without the GOP crossover.

Obama is going to win Wisconsin by a 13%-16% margin. It's ridiculous to claim that it was because of GOP crossover.

WOW, Obama is getting a larger percentage of the vote at this moment than McCain is in the republican race in Wisconsin eventhough he is the presumptive nominee...

There will be Railroad Commissioner and Senator - neither of which will be interesting.

Because it's local, the two things I've thinking of are:  1) TX-22 primary and 2) a whole host of Republican county race primaries in Harris County that have received a lot of press in the papers over the past few months. (mostly bad)

Obama is doing better in Milwaukee and the blue collar counties than he is in Waukesha and most of the affluent Milwaukee suburbs. That's strange.
