The NLC has already endorsed for President, but given that the NLC is a significant bloc in the Northeast, I think it would be constructive for us, at the very least, to endorse a candidate in the race for Northeast Governor and Northeast Lt. Governor.

(As for my own vote, I'm enthusiastically casting a ballot for AndrewCT as Governor, and will probably wind up writing in Hashemite for Lt. Governor.)

In addition, the five regional Senate seats are up for election.  I, of course, support Verily in his re-election bid as the only NLCer up this cycle, but there are a number of other seats...

Given that Hughento is carrying the party colors in his race, an endorsement seems fitting there.

The Pacific is much more difficult for me.  My initial instinct was "anyone but Friz," but now I may be leaning towards "no endorsement."  The whole "Radio Atlasia" ridiculousness left a bad taste in my mouth, and it seems like he's waging some kind of bizarre new Atlasia/old Atlasia pseudo-class war.  Not that it matters, mind you, since Friz is a lock for re-election.

The Southeast is another ugly little race, and I hope a write-in candidate emerges there.  I don't think we should be endorsing "Cookies and Milk," considering that he's been even less active than Friz as of late.

In the Mideast, I'd almost be willing to consider MasterJedi, since there needs to be at least some dissenting voices from the right in the Senate.  Unfortunately, I haven't seen much of a campaign out of either candidate (Meekermariner is the other), so I'd like to hear everyone else's ideas on this.

I'm an Atlasian John Edwards? Interesting.

And you wouldn't bet on Friz if you knew what I know.

I'd like to thank Senator Moderate for bringing this thread to our attention. I, of course, would seek and appreciate the support of the NLC in my race to be the next Governor of the Northeast. But as we know, there are more races in Atlasia, and I think it'd be a great idea to show our support to some of these candidates.

I consider the above suggestions appropriate, although they are not my own. I personally do support the endorsement of Xahar, for whilst I have had problems with some elements of his campaign, it would be far better to elect him than re-elect Friz.

After thinking about things more, I think I agree with you re: Xahar.  Far from perfect, but superior to the alternative.

Thank you for opening this thread, Mr. Moderate. I know I've been somewhat remiss in my duties as chairman of late; hopefully that will soon change. I generally agree with what others have already said; I do not find Cookies and Milk to be a very good candidate at all, being at best semi-active (regardless of political ideology). Xahar I will reluctantly endorse over persistent absenteeism.

As for the Mideast, I don't really have any strong preference at this point. I do lean towards MasterJedi, however, because I am concerned about a growing tide of people voting for candidates strictly because they are the more left-wing, and I think it has the potential to seriously harm Atlasia's ability to function. But neither Meekermariner nor MasterJedi has been very active of late, so I don't really know.

Okay, I think I've made my own personal choices.

NE Governor: AndrewCT
NE Lt. Gov.: (write-in) Hashemite

NE Senate: Verily
ME Senate: MasterJedi
SE Senate: (write-in) Sam Spade
MW Senate: Hughento
Pac Senate: Xahar

I don't think there are any other contested regional races, are there?

I agree with you on all except for the endorsement of Xahar. I think the NLC should hold its own and endorse NOTA.

By "hold its own", do you mean "endorse only its own candidates"?

No I mean only endorse candidates that we truely support, ie in "endorse the lesser of two evils" approach.

I'm not sure we should endorse write-in candidates who haven't even announced campaigns. Otherwise, I'm fine with the endorsement list, with or without Xahar.

I'd like to ask the NLC to consider endorsing me for the Lt. Governorship. I know that I'm not experienced and a new face as far as Atlasian politics go, and I know that we may disagree on some issues, but I believe that everyone must start somewhere, and I'm willing and able to follow in Rocky's footsteps and continue running the Northeast legislature efficiently.

Also, not that it need be an official endorsement or anything, but I'm personally supporting Keystone Phil/Ebowed as my second choice and I noticed a solid chunk of fellow NLCers are doing the same.

So you've decided not to endorse me? Oh well, the NLC has no clout in the Pacific anyway.

I'm stating a truth, and an obvious one at that. It wasn't meant to be bitter.

No, he's right. I wish we did have some clout in the Pacific, but no one ever moves there any more because it's too dominated by the JCP. It was, after all, our only District without a candidate last time.

Or, perhaps, to continue forward as a party, the JCP will have to put forward candidates of Porce quality instead of candidates of Rob/Friz quality, who were painfully inactive.

Quite possibly. This is what has happened when a machine hack for the JCP has faced an energetic, active campaigner. The District 5 special election will be up for grabs. I wonder who the JCP'll put up.

I don't know, but quite honestly, the vast majority of JCP members are people I can endorse.  Heck, I even endorsed Ebowed last cycle.  I care less about ideology there, and more about finding someone who can actually be an active participant.
