So tonight was the night for Obama and what seems to be a good night for Huckabee [even tho alot of numbers have yet to come in for the GOP race in WA and LA]. So what about tomorrow in Maine? Who has the advantage? What do the demographics say? What are your predictions? Is tonights 4 wins for Obama a boost?

Maine is hard to gauge. It went for Romney when we thought it would be good for McCain or even Paul. Plus they are a bit quirky up there. I really think Obama can take Maine tomorrow.

Maine is a caucus, right? If so, then I predict he might break 60 if his organization is like any of the other caucus states he won.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Obama's chances, though even the Obama campaign thinks they'll lose it.

Although, Maine would be the state to snub Obama. It is right next to NEW HAMPSHIRE!!!!!!!!

Its weird though because its on a Sunday. This could hurt Clinton and benefit Obama since he hasnt done all that well with the religious in most of the states, and older voters wont come out on a sunday just to caucus. Though same goes with other normal people wo have better things to do on their weekends.

It isn't good if we lose Maine. We can't allow Hillary a time to catch her breath. We knocked her out today, we need to knock her out tomorrow and then we need to keep beating the holy hell out of her for the rest of this month. They say February is the month of love. Well I say it should be the month where we stomp all over Hillary. No breathing room for Hillary!

I havnt seen any recent polls, but of course older polls have favored Clinton. Just knowing its a caucus gives me hope, but the demographic is really different than any other caucus state that have already gone.

Given how utterly unpredictable this race has been, I would not be surprised by a Clinton win in Maine.

Obama is the only candidate to visit the state which gives him an edge I guess [he drew a crowd of 7,000 in Bangor...significant?] while Bill has been campaigning there for Clinton. Dont see why she couldnt do it herself....-_-

Should be a fairly easy win for Clinton.

True, but if Obama can win Connecticut then he has a good shot at Maine as well. Its probably 50/50 for each of them.

Strange that none of them visited Portland. Are they both ceding it to Obama or something?

Was she? I missed that...so now they both have visited the state. Do you know how big of a crowd she brought out?

I'd give a SLIGHT edge to Obama: so far Clinton has done poorly in caucus states without a large Hispanic vote, and Maine has very, very few Hispanics. Plus Hillary essentially won NH because of the Boston exurbs, which don't really extend into Maine. Also, Obama tends to do well among rural whites outside the south, so he shouldn't have too much trouble in Maine.

Clinton drew 1,000-1,500. Obama drew 7,000+ in Bangor.

No idea. I also find it strange that neither visited the more populous part of the state.

About 1,000, compared to Obama's crowd of 6,000-7,000 (which was particularly embarrassing in that Lewiston-Auburn is bigger than Bangor and closer to Portland).

As for why they're both ignoring Portland, it's because the rest of the state dislikes Portland and is annoyed at people who think Portland is Maine. Any candidate who only showed their face in Portland would lose votes everywhere to the north and east.

Not really.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Obama basically always draws way larger crowds than Clinton.  The reason for this is obvious: even if one doesn't support Obama, they can still enjoy listening to him speak.  Meanwhile, even those who support Clinton may not be able to stand listening to her. I guess, though lately I think more people would go out to see their candidate to show support instead of just going to see them to speak or for entertainment. Now the races have gotten alot more competetive and such.
