With 79% of the votes counted, CNN is reporting that Huckabee is on his way to desimating McCain in Kansas in the first word from Republican primary voters since the announcement of Mitt Romney suspending his campaign.  62% for Huckabee  to 22% for McCain.  Ron Paul even got 11%.

Does not look like the mid-west Republicans are going to line up behind McCain anytime soon.

I was not surprised by this at all.  But I was taken aback by Huckabee's strong showing in Washington state.  He almost won it.

I completely agree.
Many pundits has made a lot of fuss about Kansas, which is not at all surprising.

Washington is, but it's a desorganized and weak GOP there and a caucus is better for Huckabee.

Louisiana was also a surprise, with McCain within reach of Huckabee: isn't Louisiana the most social conservative state, maybe after Mississipi and on par with Alabama ?
