Discussion of Feb. 9th GOP primary & caucus results here.

Kansas caucuses began at 10am Central time.  As far as I can tell, none of the networks have released any caucus entrance poll results (if they even conducted them).  Don't know when results will start trickling in.  Post any information you have on results for KS, WA, and LA here.

A few weeks ago the WA Republicans said they wouldn't have results until tomorrow. They may have gotten more organized since then but that's the latest word I've heard.

Huckabee won Kansas. They only had results on Fox and with 65% of the vote in Huckabee won with 61%, McCain came in second with about 24%.

Guess the creationist wing of the Kansas GOP showed up, while the evolutionist wing didn't.

CBS seems to be virtually alone in posting live updates of results from Kansas:

http://election.cbsnews.com/campaign2008/state.shtml?state=KS

They have results by CD too:

In Kansas, the evolutionists have all joined the Democrats.

I expect Huckabee to have a good night tonight, with wins in Kansas and Louisiana.  McCain should win Washington state, though.

Not really.  Typically, the creationists have a slight advantage, henceforth my above statement.

The only other thing I know is that the battle's been going on for millions of years.  Tongue

Since Lousiana is a closed primary, it seems certain that Huckabee will win, especially considering  Lousiana is in the South

Interesting note for Louisiana if I know this right if Huckabee doesn't win over 50% in Louisiana the delegates are uncommitted, if he does win over 50% it's winner take all so maybe McCain can get lucky there and make it uncommitted.

So I guess McCain should get his win in Washington today or at least get some more delegates.

Huck might get not 50%, since Louisiana is about one third Catholic, maybe more, on the GOP side. Based on the 2004 exit polls, it appears that about 40% of the voters are white Evangelicals who voted for Bush. Thank God for Ron Paul.

Huckabee 60%
McCain 24%
Paul 11%
Romney 3%

Why is it taking so long to get results from Louisiana?  Isn't it in the same time zone as Kansas?

Kansas had a caucus that took place in the morning.  Louisiana has a primary, in which the polls are open until this evening.

Huckabee 60%
McCain 24%
Paul 11%
Romney 3%

Polls close at 8:00pm Central Time.

When my wife and I voted, the building was empty except for 4 poll workers. We saw 3 people walking out when we were walking in but other wise it was empty. (We live in a heavily Republican area.) I went to a sign waving rally a little while ago at a major intersection and there were a decent number of Paul supporters. Huckabee did not campaign in the state, but he'll probably still win anyway.
