Thank you Mr. Chairman.

Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for taking the time to listen to me today. Despite low publicity for it, the midwest faces an important election in the coming weeks, one that will greatly affect not only my fine region, but this entire country.

I would like to start by addressing a common complaint from my opponent. Hugh has claimed that I am an inactive senator. I have, however actively participated in the shaping of the debate for every bill to hit the floor. While my opponent pushed this accusation early in the campaign, he has lead an extremely inactive campaign for this seat, finally breaking his silence today iwth a speech in Omaha. I too am guilty of this crime, but I need not lecture you on the proof that is in my senate record.

The upcoming senate, it seems will be more divided than ever. As the PLP continues to rise, its causes will be at great risk in this divided senate. While its true that I do not, technically, share a party registration with the PLP, no one can say that I do not share your priniciples closer than my opponent, and possibly closer than any other non-PLP member in Atlasia. I have fought, by word, by vote, and by proposal, for the beliefs of this party since I was appointed, and with your help, I will continue to do so for a full term. We can revolutionize Atlasian economics and foreign diplomacy, guide Atlasian social issues, and bolster support for our president to be, Senator Sensei!

And so I ask the PLP to endorse me for the Midwest senate seat. But dont do it for me, do it for the PLP, for the Midwest, for Atlasia! We will lead this senate and we will lead this country when February has come and gone, my friends!

Dave Bless Atlasia

First, to start, I would like to say what an honor it is to be here in this great city. Though I spearheaded the opposition to the choice of Baltimore as the convention site, in fact, I was the opposition to the choice of Baltimore as the convention site, and I had to hurriedly catch a flight across the country, as can be seen by my somewhat ruffled suit, I know and love this city (outside of August). But, we have more pressing issues at hand today: electing a PLP president and Senate.

Today is the day of the Progressive Liberals; the future is bright. May it hold many more happy days of victory! In the Southeast, Cookies and Milk is running unopposed. In the Mideast, the progressive heartland, Meekermariner is an odds-on favorite to win. In the Pacific, I foresee a victory for myself. But this is not enough.

Of course, we need to elect a president. And, therefore, I wholeheartedly endorse the Sensei/Rocky ticket. But we must do more. We must introduce real progressive change, to live up to our name.

Therefore, I propose something truly radical: the abolition of the cabinet. Today, the SoFA does much work, while the SoEA and AG do almost none. Therefore, the powers of all three shall be given to the Vice President, assisted by the Chief of Staff, nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate. This will eliminate governmental waste, and allow us to concentrate the positive power of government on real endeavors. Is that not worth a change?

But, we must go further. We must create a Progressive Caucus in the Senate, and a broader Progressive Association, open to all, to determine whether bills meet the progressive ideals, and to educate the public. Then, and only then, will the Republic of Atlasia find the Holy Grail.

Thank you, and Dave bless the great Republic of Atlasia.

Fellow progressives,

We are all gathered here to show our movement's strength. I believe that Senator Sensei will be your next president, and we all expect a great deal from him, and I also believe he will not let us down.

I am pleased that the campaign has become more civil, and something all Atlasians can be proud of.

As you all know, my remaining time in Atlasia is growing ever shorter, and as Vice-Chairman of this party I have a responsibility and duty to this party that I was a founding member of. But when my time to leave comes, my position will need to be filled. Therefore, I am asking, that at a suitable time we take nominations and vote on my successor as Vice-Chairman of the PLP. That person taking on the role from February 24.

So ladies and gentleman, it has been an honour to represent you, and take our platform to the people. The destiny of this party, and our movement lies with you. You have all the best wishes I can possibly send to you.

Good night, and good luck.

I would like to nominate Xahar to be Vice Chairman of the PLP.  As this party moves into the future, we need young blood to lead us forward.  He has demonstrated that he cares deeply about the PLP, and I believe that he can lead us into a bright future.

Fellow Progressives, the future is bright for our Party!  We currently hold all three major offices in the Mideast, and we will soon be adding Senate seats in the Pacific and Southeast.  Hopefully the next President of Atlasia will be not only a member of the PLP, but our party Chairman, who has done such a wonderful job!

In the Keynote Address, Xahar called for the abolition of the Cabinet, and a transfer of all the Cabinet’s duties to the Vice President.  I wholeheartedly endorse this idea.  I also agree with his idea of a Chief of Staff, to be confirmed by the Senate.  A government cannot serve its people if it is bogged down by an ineffective bureaucracy.

I also endorse Xahar’s idea of creating a Progressive Caucus.  We can only be effective if we speak with one, unified voice.

Furthermore, we must maximize our voters.  We need to have a powerful Get out the Vote initiative, so that we can truly show our party’s strength.  We must also be active in recruiting new members, as we cannot be sure that our voters will vote election after election.

Finally, I would like to thank our Vice Chairman, Polnut, for his excellent service to the Party.  I can only hope that his hiatus from Atlasia will not be permanent, and that he will son return, to help lead us into the future.

Good night, and Dave bless Atlasia.

Mr. Chairman, fellow members of the Convention, for the Midterm elections, I would like to officially put forward two names for the Senate:

1.  Xahar (if he does not win the Pacific election)
2.  Myself

Thank you.
