Didn't Chafee officially switch out of his Republican party registration?

John Murtha- Obama
Al Gore- Obama
Jimmy Carter- Obama

Murtha is the only difficult one, though I think with his stance on the war he'd probably lean Obama.

George W. Bush- McCain (mostly because of Iraq)
Newt Gingrich- Romney
Dick Cheney- McCain
George HW Bush- Romney
Lincoln Chafee- Obama

Ben Bernanke- Romney?

John Murtha - Clinton
Al Gore - Obama

John Edwards - Whoever offers him the best cabinet position

George W. Bush - He probably hates both Romney and McCain. But wants his party to retain the White House, so McCain.
Newt Gingrich - McCain
Dick Cheney - McCain
George HW Bush - McCain
Lincoln Chafee - Obama

Ben Bernanke - Romney, maybe? Although I get the feeling no one really likes Romney.

My gut tells me that GW Bush supports McCain over Romney because 1) his legacy will be enhanced if a Republican wins the WH in 2008, and I see no reason why he wouldn't believe the CW that McCain is more electable, 2) Iraq, 3) McCain was a loyal soldier and campaigned for him (and other Republicans) in 2004, 4) the issues on which McCain is a heretic from GOP orthodoxy, I really don't think Bush cares that much about most of them, 5) maybe...a small degree of guilt from 2000.

Having said that, I think a lot of other people in the Bush orbit (including much of the Bush family) probably prefer Romney.  Not sure about GHW Bush though.
