Apparently, unnoticed to everyone, West Virginia Republicans have chosen delegates to the WV State Convention, which will meet on Feb. 5.  Most votes appeared to be cast online.

Full Results available here.

The net result:
Uncommitted: 131 (28.2%)
Huckabee: 110 (23.7%)
Romney: 100 (21.5%)
Paul: 62 (13.3%)
Thompson: 50 (10.8%)
Giuliani: 8 (1.2%)
McCain: 2 (0.4%)
Keyes ( ! ): 2 (0.4%)

It, in some cases, was a pretty embarassing affair...some counties with no votes at all, some counties with not enough candidates.
Romney and Paul had good organizations, with (mostly) enough candidates everywhere.
Occasionally, Huckabee didn't have enough candidates...the ones he had polled well, and might have won more had he won more candidates.  In the few counties where he had a very good organization (Cabell, Putnam, Raleigh, Wayne) he dominated.
McCain & Giuliani almost completely absent.

These delegates will go to the State Convention (Feb. 5), together with the closest equivalent to WV 'superdelegates,' where they will choose 18 of WV's 30 delegates to Minneapolis, by a series of runoffs:
If someone wins a majority on the first ballot, they get all the delegates.
If not, the top 3 vote-getters are on the second ballot--majority wins all the delegates.
If no majority on 2nd ballot, the top two are on the third ballot--winner wins all the delegates.

With a large number of Uncommitted Delegates & 'Superdelegates' whose intentions are unknown (+ some incomplete results), we can't say for sure who'll win yet:  but Romney & Huckabee appear to be in the best position to do so.  Paul did well, but probably not well enough to make it beyond the first ballot.

The WV primary on May 13 will choose the 9 CD delegates.

Really? I had heard this wasn't happening until February 5th. How odd.

In terms of the predictions and such?  Nah, it's probably best to wait until the primary in May as the best %vote indicator.

The biggest problems with primaries is that they have never been in the people's power ever. This is probably the first time in history where normal people have become interested in primary politics. Hopefully we can reform the system for a national primary or some sort of fairer system that does not disenfranchise half of America.

I'd agree.  What all is decided in May?  The CD Delegates, right?

At the risk of bringing back a nonsensical nineties catchphrase...

Telling that to a resident of either of the Twin Cities is a sure-fire way to earn a punch to the face.
