The state GOP website, at www.wygop.org, is publishing results as they come. So far, Albany County has elected a delegate for Romney and Weston County and Undeclared alternate.

So, Mitt Romney wins the first delegate to be officially assigned this year.

The momentum from that one delegate will be unstoppable.  The other candidates might as well drop out now.

Platte County elected an Alternate for Duncan Hunter(!).

I think that was expected, or at least it was expected that Hunter would win a delegate from Wyoming. The general expectation seemed to be big Romney sweep with one each for the other candidates who bothered to visit Wyoming, Hunter included.

Just saw that....perhaps that's why he's still in the race.

Should the delegate from Goshen County be unable to make it to the convention, Duncan Hunter may get a delegate.

Romney 4
Hunter 1
Thompson 1

For alternates, it's:

Romney 3
Hunter 1
McCain 1
Thompson 1
Undeclared 1

Results so far:

Romney: 4 Delegates, 3 Alternates
Thompson: 1 Delegate, 1 Alternate
Hunter: 1 Delegate, 1 Alternate
McCain: 1 Alternate
Undeclared: 1 Alternate

(Green = Romney, Yellow = Thompson, Pink/Purple = Hunter, Blue = McCain, Grey = Undeclared.  Darker colors indicate alternates, lighter colors indicate delegates.  The white counties have not yet reported--the dot represents that the county will be selecting an alternate.  Laramie county (SE corner) selected both an alternate & a delegate, both for Romney).

Duncan Hunter now has more delegates than Rudy Giuliani.

In fact, every single declared candidate (not including Keyes, Cox, and the like) has more delegates than Rudy Giuliani.

Which means that Giuliani's in a tie with Keyes and Cox for 7th place, at zero delegates....and there's no guarantee that he'll do well enough in NH to win delegates there.  What are the delegate allocation rules for MI, SC, and NV?  When might Giuliani actually win his first delegate?

In Michigan and South Carolina, a candidate has to win a district or the statewide vote to get any delegates.  Nevada has precinct caucuses.

At least 18 of MI's 30 delegates (and perhaps all 30) are to be allocated by CD (with the other 0-12 At Large).

At least 6 of SC's 24 delegates (and perhaps all 24) are to be allocated At-Large (with the other 0-18 by CD).

NV has a caucus/convention system, so who knows.  (Officially, 9 by CD, 22 AL, 3 Party Leaders...but none will be chosen officially until the State Convention in late April).

Giuliani also tied Hunter in some rural county in Iowa and won 1/40th the amount of votes as Paul.

OK, so it's well within the realm of possibility that Giuliani goes into Feb. 5th without having won a single delegate (meaning, he'd still be trailing even Duncan Hunter in delegate count).

If I was Duncan Hunter, I know what my spin would be...

And Romney's probably going to pass Huckabee in delegates (or predicted delegates), so that could be some good spin for him.
