i lived  in the south most of my life.  i was surprised and disturbed when i moved to massachusetts and encountered ridiculous and absurd restrictions on alcohol.  i thjought these were 'liberal' people.

now i read this about seattle:

http://www.cityofseattle.net/BAN/public_safety_AIA.htm

further proof that liberals are much more intolerant than conservatives.

the do-gooders of seattle want to protect poors from the evils of st. ides!  give me a break..

at my local liquor store, where i do my trading...i can get a half-pint of vodka (40% alcohol) for $2.  apparently the moralizers in seattle think a $4 bottle of st ides (7% alcohol) is much more dangerous.

In your case, if this is such an issue, don't move to Seattle.

As far as those in Seattle, the residents either voted for this directly or voted for the people who endorsed this.  It's their choice.

As far as the AIA itself goes, the link provided didn't give too much detail on it, so I would have to read more on it.

And as we all know, it's not as if there exist conservative counties that have completely banned alcohol.

Man, Seattle has to piss me off with this after I was OK with it due to them protecting strip clubs? Lame.

Still Walter is proving himself to be an idiot since on balance it's conservative areas that have way more restrictive alcohol laws and just about every dry county in the country. Hell compare Minneapolis' lax alcohol laws to conservative suburban Dakota County's 1AM bar closing time! The same bar closing time in North Dakota by the way which is way more conservative than Minnesota where the time is 2AM in all sane counties that aren't suburban hellholes.

It's great if you are a day-trader, especially since the market is trying to find it's balance between 13K and 14K.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) I work during trading hours, so I can't sit at home and make bump-trades all day long.  hahaha

Of course, even on days like this where stocks drop, stocks like TMA (mortgage industry), ECGI (marketing), and DYN (natural gas) are up over 3%.  (All stocks in my portfolio, for clarification.)

People on the Atlas way overestimate how much this sort of issue correlates with political lean.

Age and family status more, actually.

By the way, if anyone actually thinks this is exclusively about transients...29th Avenue is way too far east for this to go.  Not that it comes as a surprise to anyone.

Actually the Seattle City Council (and thus "liberals") didn't have anything to do with this at all!

Every state has some form of it.  If we are defining "fascist" as "restricting freedoms more than BRTD wants," I imagine you have numerous fascist Minnesota state laws too.

Yes, but our's doesn't have the power to ban the sale of certain alcoholic beverages in any area it chooses. If it does it doesn't use it.

i dont think most  transients and hobos drink that stuff.  your more likely to find college kids drinking st. ides or steel reserve.

bums drink cheap liquor...usually the airline bottles or half pints.  you get more bang for your buck.  for $2 you can get a half pint of 40% vodka..that will get you more of a buzz than a 40 of steel reserve.

umm... there really is no shortage of alcohol in those areas, I've been there and I have never noticied any differences. Also if you really want a certain brand that is banned just drive or walk one mile and you are fine. Seriously this is not that big of a deal, if you didn't know the law was there you probably would not even know it exsisted.

Here are some more, if you'd like:

I'm married to Osama bin Laden.

I support Saddam Hussein because his mustache is pimping.

I support dictatorships because democracy is for fags.

I thought 9/11 was kick ass.

I hate humanity and want it to die in nuclear fire.

We have this antrax.  Are you scared?  Death to America.  Death to Israel.  Allah is great.

You do realize that this is in preparation for another tirade in about 2011? Please, don't encourage him.
