Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Hello fellow Atlasians,

I have spent much of my political career opening my campaign speeches with 'G'day fellow Pacificans'. It may sound odd to some for that not to be the case any more, but for me it is natural, for I say it here in Iowa, my early home. Indeed, I have represented this district from this state in the past, in the glorious early days of this nation. Now, at a crucial point of our nation's histrory, with threats of non-participation, low eventing and political ineptitude, it is time for me to return to the district and, with the support of my NLC colleagues, return Atlasia to the future.

Yes, you heard me correctly: I propose we return to the future. It's not the plot of some sci-fin comedy, rather an ambitious plan to scroll through the past of Atlasia and bring back edifices of earlier days that strengthened our nation, made it a more enjoyable place to be, and ensured that our elections, our senate and our regions were vibrant and strong.

I ask you to support the NLC and my campaign.

District 4 for Hughento-because the Pacific is just too cliqueish and irritating

Thank you!

Sage advice. I'm not going to take it, though.

It is pretty hilarious that nobody else voted for you when you ran in the Pacific. I loved how you just walked in after being gone for months, lectured us about activity, and expected us to crown you. Haha! I mean, I knew you were going to lose, but one vote? Ouch.

I think mostly he lectured you on one-party states.

Indeed. Also, I was harldy inactive; compared to the eventual victor in the race I had been a very active member of the Pacific legislature, and had attempted (often unsuccessfully) to improve upon or reject some pretty awful legislation passed by that body.

I don't recall you lecturing us on one-party states, but I could be wrong. I did a quick search and didn't find anything. You're welcome to provide a link, though.

Although I did find this:
...I ask you all to support a...more unified region...

One party dominance could certainly be considered unification, and we certainly took your advice and unified. Unified against you. Wink

But really, after you said this man was brilliant: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=36627.0

I decided I wasn't even going to preference you.  And then you said "screw you" to all of us. How nice!

Oh, and please don't lecture me about a "one-party state" and then move to Dictatorland. You're just being a poor sport with no standards or logic.*

*My posts in this thread might sound more hostile than I intend them to. Please don't take them too seriously, since I don't hate you or anything, lol.

Given how well Everett performed during her term, and given how her replacement is just as bad as Rob when it comes to adding nothing to the Senate but a second vote for Sen. Ebowed, I'd say that the real joke here were those giving a near unanimous thumbs up to someone who took the oath of office and resigned in the same breath.

Then again, it wouldn't be the first (or last) time that the Pacific Region was so completely and totally unified in being dead wrong.

John Ford was brilliant, and a high quality servant of his constituents.

I said during the campaign that it was important to have an independent voice for the Pacific.

I also don't hate you or any other Pacifican, but it is undeniable that if you are not a member of the troika or at least completely loyal to it, you can get nowhere in the Pacific. I had, I felt, some pretty good policies for the advancement of your region, too. It's a shame they're lost.

Ah, but why wouldn't he move to the Midwest, bastion of niceness in this nation of nastiness? Cheesy

Besides, you'll be hard-pressed to find any of the ridiculously lopsided results you have in the Pacific.

If you dislike ridiculously lopsided results, then why did you make that the requirement for replacing you for Governor?

But really, I ran for office numerous times over the years in the Pacific with no luck. I could never penetrate the Wildcard/John Ford/etc clique. But did I just give up and move to a different region after getting 20% against John Ford (although I suppose that's quite high compared to Hugh... Wink)? No, I stayed here. And now I'm the Governor. I was enshrining Midwesterners' desire for a Governor-for-Life in something that was legal according to the Midwest constitution.  It was the will of the people!

Speaking of that, are there term limits for the Pacific Governorship? I thought I remembered reading a four term term limit but I'm not sure.

It wouldn't suprise me. I'll be interested to see which Governor lasts longer, the Dictator or the head of the one-party state. Wink

Go figure I proposed repealing it before I even became Governor, haha. At least it doesn't look like I pulled a Chavez (*looks at Verin*). Wink

Well it would make things interesting if one of you started spouting off nonesense about a new "Bolivarian Socialist Revolution". That would be quite amusing.

Salt Lake City, Utah

My fellow Atlasians,

In my last senate run, I proposed a number of ideas. One in particular I think had a lot of merit, and so I re-propose it here:

"...Capitalising on infrastructure in place from the 2002 Winter Olympics, I propose for a federally funded Atlasian Winter Sports Academy (AWSA) to be built in Utah, with access to Olympic venues. Not only would this bring more investment into the [district], it also uses existing facilities in a smart way, gains more infrastructure for the [Rocky Mountain] snowfields, and improves Atlasia's sporting prowess. Similar institutes for non-winter sports should also be explored for similar investment..."

There are numerous positives to be gained for this state, our district and the nation, and few if any negatives. If elected to the senate, I will propose this and other innovative policies to make the best of our diverse districts potential.

Thank you for your time!
