Why would Kennedy run with Anderson, a moderate/liberal Republican who he would not have much in common with?

Both men were unhappy with their party's nominee, and so they decided to run on a joint ticket.

Well that's really stupid and completely utterly unlikely to happen. That would be akin to Dennis Kucinich and that guy from Focus on the Family running on the same ticket if the two candidates are Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani. How about you get some knowledge about the political process before you start creating these half-assed scenarios.

It would not be; Anderson was a liberal Republican, he was more conservative than Kennedy, but not drastically so.  It would be an odd ticket, but not as improbable as you think it is.

It would never have happened. Simple as that.

It would not happen, period. While Anderson was looking for a unity ticket he was looking for a ticket that combined a moderate Republican and a moderate Democrat, not a man like Teddy Kennedy. Anderson himself did not hold positions that I would consider all that different from Nixon's actions as President or Ford. Unless you just want to talk about a completely rediculous scenario, about as likely as "what if George Wallace runs as a REPUBLICAN" or "what if Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton were on the same ticket", I would consider it a completely unrealistic real world scenario. I think you are overestimating Anderson's left-wing appeal and also both Kennedy's willing to run against Carter and his willingness to work with a Republican like Anderson.

As I said before garner some actual political and historical knowledge before trying to create alternate history scenarios. Read a book, read Wikipedia, take a history course, anything so that we aren't graced with any more wacked out, badly written, highly implausible what if scenarios.

Kennedy was content with having destroyed Carter's chances working within the party, and getting his cohorts to help the Anderson campaign along to spike it further, without suffering the opprobrium that would have come from a third-party campaign.
