What Vice-Presidential candidates have made an impact on Presidential campaigns? Personally, I think the most recent one was Johnson in 1960. What do you all think?

Vice President William K. Wheeler would sing gospel songs with President Hayes's family every night.

Lieberman probably helped Gore in FL and cost him elsewhere.

Yes but I doubt it cost him any states.

Gore wasn't winning the states where Lieberman made a negative impact anyway, but if Gore lost Michigan, WI, IA, and MN Lieberman could have been blamed.

PBrunsel must've made a typo:

His name was WILLIAM ALMON WHEELER

I didn't catch a "k" in there at all. But, he's still got a pretty neat fact.

Vice President Richard M. Johnson reportedly killed Tecumseh, the indian chief who tried to unite all indian tribes in the Northeast Territory. Van Buren-Johnson's campaign slogan in 1836 was, "Rumpsy, Dumpsy, Colonel Johnson killed Tecumseh."

Geraldine Ferraro made an impact, negatively. So did Terry Eagleton, though McGovern would have lost anyway. Dick Cheney was a plus for Bush in '00.
