The media supposedly only has so much time to cover stories--so news time regarding the Democrats will cut into news time regarding the Republicans, and vice versa.  If the media starts obsessing over one candidate in one party, candidates in other parties may get less attention.

We saw this in 2000, where McCain's victory over Bush in NH effectively doomed Bradley (who, after all, did place a very close second in NH).  Had Bush won NH convincingly, all the talk would have been about Bradley, most likely.

Is there a possibility of something similar happening this time around?  Would a Huckabee victory in Iowa grab the media's attention and prevent any post-IA Obama comeback?  Would an Obama or Edwards victory in IA grab enough attention so that Romney can cruise to victory in NH unnoticed?
And supposing both 'upsets' happen at the same time?  Does the defeat of Hillary overshadow  Huckabee's surprise, preventing Huckabee from getting the boost he needs to win SC?

I think the defeat of Hillary without a doubt overshadows anything else. For the entire campaign (save for a few months at the beginning when Obama was rising) Hillary has been inevitable. At one point, she garnerd the support of a majority of Democratic primary voters.

On the other hand, no one knows who Mitt Romney is. No one knows that he's ahead in Iowa.
