There's the unofficial census map.

What kind of time table are we working with here?

Edit: okay, if there's a citizen's thread, then this will be governors only i guess.

We realistically need a map by the end of November since the elections are in early December and there should be time for campaigns.

Pardon me, sir, are you a Governor? (I really don't know :?)  If not, please vacate the premises immediately, or else I shall be forced to use the Broom of Justice (tm)!

In PM's or separate threads - I've made a citizens thread now.

Pfft. Governors being pompous. There's no need for separate threads.

Alright. I'll arbitrarily announce that voting will be on saturday, governors. If you want to contest that, go ahead and I'll listen to you, but I think five days is enough time to consider and debate maps.

By the way, my proposal:

Here is my proposal:

District 1 - Dark Yellow
District 2 - Pink
District 3 - Blue
District 4 - Green
District 5 - Red

Do you guys want to have each Governor propose a map and then do a mix of preferential and approval voting to determine a winner? That has worked best in the past from my experience.

Jesus, your map is illegal. District 5 is too big.

It#s not actually, AFAIK. However, the chance that governors will pass a non-perfectly balanced maps when balanced ones are available is very slight.

Well, then we definitely need an equal votes amendment.

So far Jesus' map is the one I like the best.

The rules mandate "no more than three more than the minimum difference", the minimum difference being either 1 (as currently) or 0 depending on Census Figures.

Exactly; I've introduced an amendment to fix this, as there's no reason for it to be the case. Past groups of governors have shown themselves willing to use the other rules, such as minimal discontiguity, to achieve population equivalence, and population equivalence should be enshrined in the Constitution.

If the census is supposedly taken on the first Friday in November (November 2nd), and Friz moved to Oregon on November 9th, then he should still be counted in New York. In that case, my District 5 only has 11 voters. Though, as Lewis said, 12 voters is still legally acceptable.

I'm not sure whether we would count Friz as in Oregon or not, given that the Census did not take place on November 2 (and actually still hasn't taken place).

The Census will have taken place on November 2, as law dictates. There is merely an unfortunate delay in publication of official figures, but that will be remedied once a new SoFA has been sworn in.

In other words, my map is perfect. Smiley

Anyway, other than switching 1 voter from OR to NY, I'm not sure there are any mistakes with the census Verily did. Hopefully we'll have the official census results soon and we can maybe have a map by next week. I could run the re-districting process if nobody has any objections--I've done it a couple times before and it seemed to work well.
