Background:
Born in 1961 in East Berlin to a German father and Russian mother, Schmidt moved to Port Valjean just before the construction of the Berlin Wall. Schmidt attended the University of Limeria, from which he graduated magna cum laude. He was admitted to the bar in 1984, and was a prosecutor in the trial of the dictator upon his downfall. Until this case, he was low-profile and relatively unknown, but he soon became a household name.
