Please post your character bios here, from the other thread. It'd be simpler to have them all in one place.

Do not post in this thread except to post your biography.

Name: Alexandre Macdonald Denoix
Province of Birth: Arcadia.
Ethnic Background: French Antillian/Scottish
Religion: Roman Catholic
Political stance: Free market social liberal / classic liberal
Party:  Parti Radical Democratique (Free Democrats)

Background.

Born into a middle class suburban family to a Francophone father and a Scottish mother, Denoix received a liberal Jesuit education at St Ignatius' school in Arcadia. At his mothers wish he attended university in Scotland for four years, studying history and politics before returning to Antillia to take up a post in the civil service. Openly gay, he has many friends of all political persuasions, but also critical opponents. His time under care of the Jesuits and his experiences in Scotland, he has said, has made him 'socially aware' and 'dedicated to free market solutions to poverty.' While seen as fairly honest and genuine, he has an air of 'pretence' (slightly bourgeois) which doesn't endear him to the 'impoverished'. Is also considered to be too 'anglo-saxon' by some of the more statist and populist sections of the Francophone electorate and political establishment, particularly his support of privatisation of state owned utilities.

Name: Davey "Junior" Jones, Jr.
Province of Birth: Lorient, Reginia
Ethnic Background: 1/2 "American", 1/4 English, 1/4 French (but his family has foresworn all "Frenchness")
Religion: Roman Catholic
Political stance: Conservative (in the American sense, of course!)
Party:  Antillian Conservative Party
Background:
Davey is the grandson of Randy Jones, a high school principal from Alabama, and the son of Randy's third son, Davey Jones, Sr.  While in his twenties, Davey took a sprint break vacation to Antillia.  He immediately fell in love with the place, and wired home for some money to buy some property.  His $200 was only enough to buy him a small plot of land in rural Lorient.  Luckily for him, though, that plot of land was soon worth thousands of dollars, because a rock formation looking vaguely like the Virgin Mary was discovered on that property, causing the largely Catholic Francophones to engage in a bidding war for control.  Davey shrewdly invested the money to purchase a winery, and got a job as a high school principal in Lorient.

Davey Sr. married his wife, Jacqueline Du Bois, two years after arriving on the island.  Though she was both half-French and Roman Catholic, the two fell in love despite their differences.  Davey managed to "convert" her from her Frenchness; in return, Jacqueline converted her husband to Roman Catholicism, practically anathema to the Jones family back in Alabama.  They had nine children together; Davey Jr., known as "Junior" to everyone, was the third, and the first son.  It was widely expected that Davey would go into the family business and become a high school principal.  But it was not to be.  Instead, Davey chose the life of an insurance adjuster, leaving the winery to his older sisters.

He led a quiet life until the age of 27.  That's when the immigrants started trickling in.  Then the trickle became a flood.  Davey was alarmed; what was the world coming to?  He first got into politics campaigning as essentially an "anti-anyone-not-Anglo-Saxon" candidate.  But that was before he met his wife.  Padma Dasgupta came into his life while running for office, amusingly enough in a crowd of protectors outside a campaign visit.  She challenged him to sit down in a restaurant and discuss his politics with her.  He accepted.  They were married within a month.

This has tempered his views on immigration quite a bit; he supports almost no barriers to skilled immigration (his wife is an engineer), and generally favors a pro-refugee policy.  Still, his views remain otherwise conservative.  He is strongly opposed to granting homosexuals any special rights, and is pro-life in all cases, except for the health of the mother.  He supports the death penalty for capital crimes.  He supports tax and spending cuts, along with reduced welfare programs and more lax environmental regulations.  He opposes any bilingualism in the public sphere.  In foreign policy, he is a strong supporter of a stronger alliance with the United States, and by extension the United Kingdom.

Name: Jack Cooke
Province of Birth: North Antillia
Ethnic Background: English
Religion: Officialy Roman Catholic, in practice agnostic
Political stance: Centre-right conservative
Party: Progressive Conservative Party

Background.

Born into a middle class suburban family to English-born parents, Cooke received elementary education in Capehaven before his family moved to Alberton where he attended a respectable secondary school. Like his father before him, he attended university in England for four years, studying history and political science before returning to Antillia to take up a post in the civil service. He briefly served in a small liberal party's youth organization. He later went into local politics and was elected as an independent to the post of mayor of Capehaven, before losing to a liberal candidate two years later. His studies abroad and subsequent travels through Europe have enlightened his political preferences, becoming a centre-right progressive conservative instead of a centrist liberal. He could be considered to have "bourgeois" tendencies. As of now, he serves in local politics as a city councillor from the PC Party. He speaks fluent French, English, and Portuguese.

Name: Arthur Ernest Watson
Province of Birth: New Wales
Ethnic Background: rural Anglophone
Religion: Methodist
Political stance: Democratic Socialist
Party: Antillia Labour Party

Background: Watson is a cloth-cap wearing Trade Unionist with no formal education, a thick West Coast accent and little knowledge of the French language. He is known for his dislike of the Antillian Establishment, for his hatred of Communism.
He was born into rural poverty in the Nieves Mountains, and moved to New Merthyr (an industrial suburb of Wellington) to find work at a young age. After working in various manual occupations, he fell in with the growing Trade Union movement. Watson rose through the ranks of the Transport & Industrial Workers Union (TIWU) becoming its General Secretary at the age of 34 and later helped (in a behind-the-scenes way) to orchestrate the creation of the Trades Union Federation (TUF) and the Antillia Labour Party.

I'll be the first one to post a new biography.

Name: Samuel Krishnamurthy
Province: New Ulster
Place of Birth: Alberton
Ethnic background: Tamil (Indian)
Religion: Church of Antillia
Party: The Social Liberals / Les libéraux sociaux

Background:
Born in Alberton on January 7, 1980 to middle-class Christian Tamil immigrant parents, Krishnamurthy bears little cultural or political connection to the vast majority of the Antillian Indian population. His parents sent him to school in the United Kingdom, though he returned to Antillia in his university years, studying philosophy and politics at the University of Alberton.

Even during his time at university, he became active in politics, being elected to the Alberton Council at the age of 22, shortly before graduating from university, representing the Social Liberals. He is widely considered a rising star within the Social Liberals.

One year after graduating, he married Christine Desmoureaux, a French national with whom he had studied at university, cementing his position as a non-traditional Indian in Antillian society. He speaks fluent English, Tamil and French.

As a politician in the small Social Liberals, which espouse economic centrism and social liberalism, he has drawn considerable fire for divergences from Indian traditionalism from nearly all other Indian members in Parliament. He is most well-known for diatribes against traditionalist culture, which has rankled Indian politicians while drawing mixed support and irritation from both liberal and conservative politicians.

Ok, I've poked around alot, and I hope I've gotten the general idea down. If I've made any mistakes, let me know...

Name: Egbert Dudley

Province of Birth: Alberton, New Ulster

Ethnic Background: Scotts-English

Religion: No Denomination... Agnostic leanings

Political stance: Progressive Civil Libertarian

Party: Antillian Labour Party

Background:
Born in Februrary of 1978 to a Scottish father and English mother in the capital of Antillia, Egbert Dudley, named for his great-grandfather, who was also a political leader, grew up with a strong sense of duty for country. Dudley became active in politics just before entering University. Feeling that it was unfair that young workers could not afford college education, he joined the ALP. His strong civil libertarian streak is outside of the ALP's social sphere, but his primary interest has been economics, which fit in with the ALP's working class traditions.

Graduating school, he began his trek into local politics by winning elections until running for Parliament. Trailing a Progressive Conservative near the end of the campaign, the charismatic Dudley became a hero of the lower class with his "Hard Times" speech. Probably aimed for national exposure, the "Hard Times" speech was aimed at working class, and lower middle class individuals, as it hit on the subjects of poverty and the beleaguered nation's constitutional issues.

Dudley's charisma and his family's past history of service are his most valuable assets, and his main weakness is never having held a legislative office, and is thus new to the inner workings of Parliamentary procedure.

Name: Shoaib Ali (S.A.) Khan
Province: Le Gran
Place of Birth: Presque Isle
Ethnic background: Punjabi
Religion: Muslim
Ideology: Socialist
Party: Social Democratic Party

Background:
Scion of the small Antillian Muslim community, S.A. Khan comes from a solidly middle class family in Presque Isle. After graduating from secondary school, he attended Antillian Polytechnical Institute. Upon graduation, he ran and was elected to the Le Grand Provincial Council. After serving there for a year, he resigned to run for Mayor of Presque Isle. He was elected to three two-year terms, after which he became head of the Antillian Liberty Union, an organization modeled on the ACLU. He has held that post for 1 year.

Khan is straightforwardly socialist, and is outspoken in favor of Antilian membership in La Francophonie. For this reason, he is immensely popular among non-Anglophones, and is often referred to as "the voice of the minority".

Name: Nikolai Sarantopoulos
Province of Birth: New Wales.
Ethnic Background: Greek
Religion: Byzantine Catholic
Political stance: Christian socialist
Party:  Social Credit

Background:

Born into a working-class conservative Greek immigrant family in 1938, he moved around quite a bit during his young years, and attended the University of Richmond, where he attained a PhD in Antillian history. He became a lawyer and for a brief period served in the Antillian Armed Forces.

Today he is a conservative Christian as well as an economic socialist. For this reason he is popular among rural-dwellers, Francophones, Blacks, and Indians.

Name: Elliott Barrett
Province of Birth: New Ulster
Ethnic Background: British
Religion: Athiest
Political stance: Radical Leftist
Party:  Green

Background:
Born; July 7th, 1946 in Alberton, New Ulster to English parents; both of whom were political organizers for various liberal causes (most notably anti-war causes). Barrett, in his younger years, was a popular folk singer. He could often be found in a shady folk lounge, ripe with the stench of herb, banging out tunes for the anti-war crowd.

While hardly remembered for his music, Barrett has since made a name for himself as a radical liberal activist within the very small Antillian Green Party. He is considered a hero by many young radicals and can often be seen giving stump speeches from atop a wooden box on a street corner downtown.

Barrett ran, only once, for mayor of Alberton as the candidate of the Alberton Green Party. Despite gaining an relatively high 11%, Barrett lost by a lop-sided margin to the incumbent; ultimately finishing in 3rd place.

Name: Thurston Jones
Province: New Ulster
Place of Birth: Wellington, New Wales
Ethnic background: Welsh, French
Religion: None
Party: Green (if/when there is one)

Born 1984 in Wellington to a to a retired French lecturer and a social worker of Welsh descent (a former student of his father's). Thurston found himself attacked from both sides of the class divide in his community (from his privately-educated neighbours and from pupils at the state school he attended). In his childhood he was something of a latchkey kid, owing to his mother's long working hours and having a drunken, existentialist father. Because of this he was politically apathetic until shortly before attending university, where he took an interest in factors behind the class divide (which he still so distains) and in issues surrounding the environment. Being still young, he is still largely unknown and politically obscure, but few aren't at first..
